We stayed in the village for a week and then saw the pub did a pizza night. A table was booked on line and have to say had a great evening and the pizza was amazing. Staff very helpful and the pizza's were 11 out of 10. Great choice and excellent value. Service was quick and pizzas were fresh and simply delicious. |A fantastic find 👍

Was recommended to myself and my partner by a customer in the pub that we work in. Came in to a friendly greeting by dale the landlord and then played darts and got to learn about the building and dale himself. Would highly recommend to walkers or anyone for that matter!

We just by chance ended up at his charming country pub from a long walk from Ringmore. luckily for us it was Open Mic nite. the food we had was great pub grub. But the quality of the locals musicianship was off the scale. I can't remember the Guiarist names but as a perfessional guitarist myself i was awestuck with the level of quality. on that note i'm coming back next Open mic nite again. Wow made my year,

Having booked before reading the reviews I was a little concerned about the availability of food. I duly wrote an E-mail to check but receiving no response assumed there was no problem. Arriving at what was undeniably a lovely old pub, we were told that the it was the chef's day off so no evening meal. The rooms are in a somewhat down at heel building opposite. Our room was very basic but seemed clean. The price was a good ÂŖ 40 more than it should have been. In the bathroom we noticed there was no soap. going back to the bar we were told that soap wasn't provided. That is a first for me. The previous evening we had asked for an early breakfast, 8.00am as we had to catch the Bantham ferry. We were assured the pub door would be open. Going down at 8 it was locked and remained so until we gave up and left at 8.30am despite the fact that a light was on upstairs. So no evening meal or breakfast despite the fact we'd paid for the latter. The impression I have is that they don't really want to accommodate people but just keep the pub side going. I would recommend that anyone considering the Dolphin assists them in that respect. It could be so much better and the accommodation that followed just accentuated how poor this was.

Excellent pizza on Fri night. Bar was rammed and the staff were barely coping but there was a great atmosphere - a pub full of happy people.

Sign on door said 'open' but on entering no one was home. Quaint pub but no menu that we could find. After 10 mins decided to go elsewhere!

I tried to call the pub 19 times during the week to arrange late arrival details, no response to messages or calls. I resorted to contacting the editor of the local parish magazine who told me that the manager had left and locals were keeping the bar open. Still no response from the pub and as I was arriving with 3 children I had to make alternative arrangements. Pub owners, Champion Inns, now refusing to refund. I would be very careful if you are looking to stay here and definitely don't pay in advance.

2 months later the pub owners are still refusing to respond to my messages or even discuss my complaint.
