Lovely welcome when we found it. We too didn’t spot the sign hidden in the hedge. Interesting house which still retains the evidence of once being a school externally, but don’t expect minimalism once you’re inside, rather cluttered with art work and stuff everywhere but the room was very clean, the bed was comfortable (a softer pillow would have been good for me but my hubby said they were fine, so it’s all down to taste). Spacious room with tea / coffee making facilities with fresh milk (which was a nice touch) and free bottled water. The bathroom had a sloping ceiling which was fine for me as I’m short and the homemade soap was a lovely touch too.|The full breakfast was gorgeous, with home cured bacon and tasty, meaty sausages, home made preserves as well. |Would also recommend the pub just a few minutes down the road for your evening meal.

Maxine and Chris are great hosts and made us feel really welcome. Lovely place, spotlessly clean, large comfortable room and all facilities were great. Really nice touch having Fridge with milk and water. So much nicer than sachets of HTmilk you get in other places. We have stayed before in 4 and 5 star hotels before and Chris’ breakfast rivalled them! Delicious. Home made bread and preserves. Home cured bacon, fresh fruit and Fresh locally sourced produce. All good cooked to order and no microwaving. Could not fault anything and will definitely stay there again when visiting relatives in Plymouth

The hosts Maxine and Chris were excellent. Chris been a Michelin chef in his previous role made us some good breakfast and excellent pancakes. ||As for the room. My wife and I had the top room which was very spacious plus having a Kingsize bed made all the difference in getting good sleep as I tend to find double beds quite small. The bathroom is next door which was spacious too. No one comes on the top floor so going back and for next door was no issue plus we had our privacy. ||This B&B used to be a old village school and alot of hard work, lot of thought and passion has gone on making this place an excellent B&B to stay. We stayed for 7 nights and throughly enjoyed it. Hope to be back soon in the future.

Used this location on a recent business trip to the West Country. |Situated in a pretty village just off Dartmoor. |We were warmly welcomed to the property and given all the necessary info for the accommodation. |The room was cell presented and had a very comfortable bed. |The breakfast was beautifully cooked with local bacon and sausage. |As the name of the property suggests it is an old school, the exterior could do with some painting but didn't spoil stay. |Well worth a visit.

Great location, plenty to do and see in the immediate area. We had a lovely room with a fantastic garden view . . . I spent chunks of time watching birds and rabbits. Maxine was very welcoming. I am normally not a breakfast person but have to say I enjoyed every mouthful . . . Especially the bacon. Will certainly return.

Such a welcoming couple in Max and Chris. A comfortable, quite room and a wonderful proper English style breakfast of local produce including the local delicacy of hogs pudding. A good base for all locations in West Devon and located in the beautiful Walkham valley.

Loved the homemade items like jam marmalade and bread. A fridge in the room with fresh milk. Breakfast was perfection. Non greasy. The little town of Travistock was close by very historic. Horrobridge itself had a cute bridge and weir. Lots of photo opportunities. An altogether perfect stay.

Very welcoming hosts. Hope to visit again. An exceedingly convenient location to base yourselves if you wish to explore Dartmoor. A lot of thought has clearly gone in to the interior design of the externally historic building.
