We had the most wonderful stay for our honeymoon in Halcyon. It was such a magical experience. Bryony and Bertie were so kind and made us feel very welcome. The supercat transfer is super fun and a lovely way to arrive at the hut. The cakes provided on arrival were such a nice touch. The hut had been done to a super high standard and everything was thought of. It is the most beautiful location and it was so lovely to switch off for a couple of days. Thank you again

The care Bertie and Briony have taken in creating this luxurious hideaway is outstanding. Everything was top quality and beyond expectation. From cake and damson gin to marshmallows for the fire, fluffy robes and super-soft linens, the whole experience was a delight. Romantic baths by stove-light, a fire-pit in the trees, glorious walks on the doorstep. Its a very special place. Buckland Abbey is stunning and moments walk away. Bertie provides an excellent, and reasonably priced, selection of meals and wine. One of the most beautiful, quiet breaks my husband and I have ever had.

We loved our 2 night Starbed hideaway. It was the perfect place to get away from it all and slow down, surrounded by trees and fields. Aurora is well thought out and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay and more! Bryony and Bertie were amazing hosts and made our arrival and departure by Supacat a breeze. We pre-ordered breakfast and dinner from the Larder menu, great fresh local produce and it was all delicious. We enjoyed getting cosy by the fire pit and were lucky to fall asleep under starry skies both nights.

Aurora by name. Aurora Borealis by nature. How lucky were we to hit the jackpot by staying at this gem of a hideaway and also getting the unique opportunity of witnessing the Northern Lights make an unexpected and once-in-a-lifetime display of memorising extravaganza on the first night of our stay. Absolutely wowza!

I think even without the appearance of the Northern Lights, my wife and I would still have afforded this place a five star rating.

On our arrival we were greeted by the warm welcome of Bertie, our friendly host, and his daughter who took us from our meeting point to Aurora in an army transport vehicle. The ride to the top of the hillside was memorable as it was fun and exciting. As we arrived I was struck by the beauty of Aurora and its majestic panoramic view and breathtaking surroundings. The interior of porta cabin was cozy and spacious with all the essentials for a weekend getaway.

If you are looking for an adventure without the daily distraction then look no further. Aurora will give you an experience you will treasure and fondly reminisce. Thank you Bertie, Bryony and their daughter for an unforgettable stay.

We spent an idyllic two nights in Halcyon shepherd hut. It was wonderful to escape to such a peaceful and picturesque place and enjoy the countryside and nature. Sitting outside in the evening by the fire pit with a glass of wine takes some beating. Bertie and Bryony have given so much thought to the beautiful decor and fittings inside the hut, we had everything we could possibly need. The hut was spotlessly clean, had gorgeous towels and toiletries and a very comfy bed. |We ordered a pre cooked supper on both nights, highly recommend this service as the food was delicious.

Bertie and Bryony absolutely deserve their 5 stars. Second time I’ve stayed at Halcyon and it’s one of my happiest places, they have created a beautiful hut with everything you would need. Reading in front of the fire (inside and outside of the hut) an amazing bath and no TV which just forces you to unwind. It’s a great location to then go over to Cornwall for the day which I’ve done both times. Such a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of London. Oh and thank you for the dairy free milk! My absolute highest recommendations 🙂

Lovely location, on top of the hill with views all around, about 100m away from the other Hideaway and further than that to the nearest houses, so great privacy and little chance of disturbance. Nice walks directly from the door, and of course amazing countryside within easy reach. There is a lot more room in these one-and-a-half shepherd's huts than in the smaller ones we've stayed in elsewhere, but you still want to pack fairly lightly as your car will be 10 minutes away at the bottom of the hill. Very nicely furnished and equipped, and the huge bath is both a luxury and a curiosity in the living area. In all, a great treat for a few days (might start to feel a bit cramped for longer especially in poor weather).

Wow, what can we say! If you are looking for the most luxurious, exclusive haven of gorgeousness to switch off and recharge then look no further. ||From the moment we arrived we realised that the TripAdvisor reviews and photographs are absolutely spot on. Bertie and Bryony are genuinely the most wonderful hosts. So friendly and simply want to make sure your stay is the best it could possibly be. Nothing is too much trouble. ||We stayed in Halcyon which is tucked out of the way in a small woodland, completely secluded, we felt like the only people on earth, it was incredible! The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful.||We pre ordered from the Starbed Larder Menu and our food was waiting in our hut when we arrived. The home cooked food and locally sourced produce were absolutely delicious and meant we didn't have to venture from our cosy hut unless we wanted to. The home made biscuits, sloe gin and other tasty treats that had been laid out for us were also delicious and a thoughtful touch.||With Buckland Abbey and the National Trust Estate being a 10 minute stroll away we thought the gesture of free passes was a lovely addition to our stay.||Halcyon is immaculately presented and fitted out to a super high standard. From the roll top bath with fluffy bathrobes, fire pit for cosy evenings, cute little wood burner, large comfy bed with quality bedding to the glass roof panel enabling you to watch the night sky for shooting stars while snuggled in bed....everything has been thought about carefully. ||Having already re booked a 5 night stay for next year, we warn you, a weekend is not long enough.... we didn't want to leave! We have never experience anything quite like this before, this little place is truly unique. Thank you so much Bertie and Bryony for your hospitality, you have created the most wonderful, magical place.
