The journey took a shorter time than expected so we arrived early afternoon. The house is so close to the A66 and yet felt remote and peaceful. Although the cleaner was still there we were warmly welcomed by the owners and shown to our room which was very comfortable, beautifully furnished to the style of the house and with a spotless en-suite bathroom. Although only there for one night we felt our stay was much longer as we enjoyed sitting in the delightful garden, walking from the garden gate along the river bank and across much of the land behind the house on which the owner has planted numerous trees. Following time exploring nearby Barnard Castle we walked the short distance to the Morritt Arms where we had an excellent evening meal. Breakfast the next morning was all we could wish for and served in a well furnished dining room. Mary and Peter are such welcoming hosts. Our stay was so enjoyable. We would not hesitate staying there again if in the area.

We stayed at the Coach House for a family Wedding at the nearby Morritt. I think we got the best end of the deal! We had a lovely warm welcome, a cosy room full of character and a perfect breakfast with local produce. I could not recommend anywhere as much as this beautiful place. It's not for the trendy. If you want stark and clinical this isn't for you. If you want perfect peace and stunning views, you'll find nowhere better. Lovely hosts and a real feeling of being welcomed to their home. We loved it.

We spent 4 perfectly delightful nights in the green room of the Coach House -- the most luxuriously-appointed accommodations we've ever experienced in a B&B. Our hosts were interesting, attentive and informative. Breakfast was made to order and delicious. Beautiful setting where we enjoyed an after-breakfast walk every day. We loved the central location which we used as a base to easily tour the famous spots -- Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District, the Dales. As an added bonus, we learned about several interesting sites right in the neighborhood. Can't think how the stay could have been improved. Great wifi too!

We stayed in this lovely B&B midway our journey to Scotland. (We travelled from Essex). The first part of the journey from Coggeshall to Barnard Castle was supposed to have taken 4 hours but due to traffic jams all the way on the A1M it took us 9 hours instead and we arrived late afternoon at the Inn. We had hoped to be there at 2pm the latest in order to explore the surroundings. It is really a shame that we arrived so late as it is very pretty there. To see this stunning well loved Inn certainly cheered us up a lot and the warm welcome received from Peter and Mary was the cherry on the cake. We were a large group of people, 7 in total. Me, my hubby and our three teenage kids as well as my mother and a teenage niece. All were welcome and all of us were taken in by the charm of this inn that has been traditionally decorated. When I was a young lady, I used to read a lot of romantic books by Barbara Garland, lol and this is one of those places that will give you that romantic 'feel'. The rooms are colour coded, the green room, yellow room etc. If I remember correctly, Peter told us that the Inn dates back to 1790 or so and has been in his family for a very long time. After our dinner at the local pub, we had the chance to stroll through the B&B's private garden and along the stunning river. Breakfast was also lovely, so much choice. Fresh fruit,as well as traditional cooked breakfast etc. I highly recommend this B&B and next holiday we may well stay there again to explore County Durham.

A lovely house in a convenient position. It's so close to the A66 that we were worried about road noise, but the rooms look out to the rear over lovely countryside and are surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The bedrooms are very comfortable, bathrooms are spacious and well appointed with plenty of hot water. ||||Although the lounge is quoted as an attraction, it seems to be shared with the hosts (who are all that one could wish for), so was only available to us for a limited time.||||My only other quibble is that we do like to be offered tea and cake when we arrive at a B&B late afternoon, but that wasn't provided here. As we hadn't noticed the tray in the bedroom immediately (containing kettle, pot, tea bags, fresh milk, and biscuits), when it became apparent that we weren't about to be offered tea, we asked if we could have some. Great credit to Peter that he happily provided some in the lounge - but no accompanying cake or biscuits unfortunately!

Had a lovely night at the Coach House. Welcoming owners Peter and Mary. Comfy room with fantastic views of the countryside. Particularly enjoyed seeing the Woodpecker that regularly visited next doors bird feeder.||Nice quiet location away from any busy roads. Ideally situated a short walk away from The Morrit Hotel where our friends wedding was held.||Great English breakfast the next morning.||Would happily stay there again.

The Coach House B & B at Greta Bridge, very homely run by Peter and Mary. Tea and Coffee making facilities plus biscuits. Our bathroom was next door but I loved it, quite a large room, all facilities. Mary said we could have the Green Room next time as it is the nicest but I was quite satisfied with our Yellow Room. Beautiful garden, growing their own fruit and veg. Delicious home grown stewed rhubarb for breakfast with Greek yoghurt, followed by full breakfast if required or any variation. It was a pleasure not to have wifi or TV. I walked around the garden, then sat and chatted and read for a change. Things we don't much do nowadays. We will go back there.

If you are looking for a smart designer place to stay, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a charming friendly country home with beautiful views and walks I recommend The Coach House. Peter and Mary ensure a warm welcome awaits you as does Tink the dog. Breakfast is a well cooked English breakfast., the beds are comfortable, the towels fluffy. A place to enjoy.
