The hotel is an amazing period building, wood panelling, huge fireplaces and creaky floors.|All staff were very friendly and accommodating.|The spa is a real bonus- the pool is a considerable size, hot indoor jacuzzi pool, outdoor pool temperature was fine and bubbles there were ferocious! Sauna, steam rooms, great changing area with plenty of showers. Spa has a cafe area, great gym area too.|Our room was really warm, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was somewhat dated but suited us fine.|We ate in the bar. It was a little pricey for the quality of the food, but not unreasonable.|Breakfast was a good selection and my daughter was happy to see oat milk freely available.|There are parts of the hotel that would benefit from being updated but the building is so huge that this would be a slow and expensive process. My advice would be to not pay a fortune to stay (we paid £99 including breakfast for a basic room) and you will leave happy.

A lovely hotel set in picturesque grounds. The interior is a time warp. Sadly, in parts, the facilities are showing their age, but to me, that added to the charm. The room I stayed in was really large with a vast amount of space. The bathroom was the only modern part of my room and had a large bath and rainhead shower. Some of the furniture within the room was worn and had slight damage, but given some of these items age, it's probably to be expected.
On site, there is a pool, sauna, and steam room, all of which were clean and easily accessible. There is a small gym with pretty much everything you would need and the changing facilities are great with plenty of lockers and decent showers.
The only negative I have from my stay is the breakfast and the evening meals. I didn't enjoy any of them sadly and opted to eat out after trying them. I would definitely stay here again, having said that, and I would just eat in the local area.

I expected more! The room was fine and clean. The bed was awfully uncomfortable, it was 2 single mattresses put together rather than a double mattress. This wouldn't have been a big issue if the bed was actually comfortable! It was hard and every time I moved, the springs kept popping! Paint flaking from the radiator!
The bathroom was dedigned for a disabled person, which is great if those facilities are needed, but I didn't need them and I was quite offended being given this room. The shower looked a bit tired, toilet wasn't clean, which I reported and was rectified promptly. One thing I was very surprised about is there was no bath robe! In my experience supplying a bath robe is pretty standard. Food was mediocre but the breakfast was very good! Hotel is beautiful on the outside. I think more staff is needed to run more efficiently too.

My wife & I visited the spa for a ‘Spa Experience’ day.|Driving off the main road into Stratford one is struck by the huge grounds of this establishment. The first warning is the rubbish and broken gardening tools scattered at the side of the driveway leading to the main hotel.|We entered the Spa facility which is a relatively new (15years) facility. We waited a while at the reception desk/sparsely stocked bar. Eventually a staff member approached. No welcome greeting just a “ have you signed in?” As if we knew we were to do that. The reception area and seating for the food bar was not as luxurious as one would expect.|After some discussions we found out the spa team were down a member who had rang in sick. These things happen. We got our robes and towels and entered the changing rooms. |These are truly in a poor state. Most of the locker doors are hanging off, you need to bring your own padlock (we weren’t told this). There was the usual discarded items lying around on benches. The floor in the toilets and showers seemed dirty. I like the swimsuit dryer, a lot of places don’t bother with these.|Entering the main pool I was disappointed to find no seats available. Lots & lots of towels dumped on some of the seats.|Two of the saunas were not working.|We decided to box up our afternoon tea and eat in the main hotel.|We entered the hotel to find at 13:30 the restaurant was not open and it was bar menu only.|We ordered fish & chips, very basic meal, nothing flash. But steep for what it was, a pre-prepared fish and oven chips £19. Prosecco fresh bottle, still flat as a pancake|Back to the spa for my treatment. A nice young lady led me through and I underwent a head/shoulder massage and a lower leg scrub & massage. The therapist had nails that were too long and irritated throughout on my feet and the whole massage was rather timid.|All in all a really poor experience.

Asked for a double bed and got two singles pushed together. Not nice having a hard seam in the middle when you're away for your birthday. Was asked to pay for dinner in hotel restaurant twice whilst still finishing it. The only staff that weren't miserable was the breakfast lady. Albeit the hot breakfast was only warm. Cold breakfast was nice. Sink in bathroom cracked. Mould up bathroom walls. Whole place needs some love. Parts of the spa were shut or broken. Nice selection of teas. Would not recommended. It's cheap for a reason!

This was a girls break we made use of the spa facilities and had treatments. Rooms were very spacious and nicely decorated very clean. The food was great we had evening meal and breakfast both mornings. This is the 5th time I've stayed here and will definitely be back.

Very under-welming. When I'm paying £270 a night, I don't expect to have to pay £5 to borrow a robe for the spa. No slippers were available either. The pool outside was not heated sufficiently to stay in. Foot spas were all out of order. Heated beds were not heated.|Jacuzzi , pool and saunas were all quite good, though. |A double room should not be 2 single beds pushed together. It's not comfortable to fall down the middle during the night. |The room was just about adequate, but don't expect much more than that. The Holiday inn, Premier Inn, and Travel lodge all have rooms that are far superior at a third of the price.|The building is beautiful outside, but very dated inside. |

My sister and I visited last year for a spa day and, due to some of the facilities being out of order, we were given day passes to visit again, which we did in March. ||||Upon arrival (not the friendliest but not awful - just expected a bit more of a "good morning, how are you" to start) were given towels and, upon request, robes, and made our way to the changing rooms. They were a little better than last time (with less broken doors) but still quite dated and the area messy. Plus lots of clothes abandoned in lockers without being locked away. ||||The pool area was crowded and noisy, but nice to see guests having fun and enjoying themselves. Limited seating areas though, and the foot baths (which were the reason we were given day passes last time) were out of order again. The steam room, sauna and lanconium were heavenly though, and outdoor hot tub was a nice touch. ||||Water dispensers weren't exactly premium looking - small plastic jugs - and were topped up very infrequently. For the amount of people using the facilities that day (especially the sauna and steam room) a lack of readily available drinking water feels like a significant oversight.||||It would've been nice to have options like cucumber or lemon water too, for a more luxe spa experience. ||||We only went to the spa cafe at the end for coffees (server was very nice) but fresh juices would be another nice touch. ||||Upon leaving, the towel basket was overflowing, and the swimming costume dryer was also broken. ||||Went for lunch in the Trevelyan Bar.||||Food was tasty and staff was friendly, but lots of forgotten and mixed up items made the experience less than premium. ||||Drinks ordered from the bar but only half were poured (until reminded), sides and sauces missing or mixed up. Food left on a table next to ours long after the diners had left. Rubbish and spills left on the bar, our table had a lovely view out of the window, but there was rubbish (napkins and biscuit wrappers) flying around in the wind in the garden. There was also a (full) dog water bowl under one of our chairs. No dog in sight.||||The bar dining room area looked lovely from afar but was very dusty - the lamp shade next to our table was covered in stains. ||||Over all, with a fresh coat of paint, more staff training, and perhaps more staff serving at one time, improvements could be made quickly. ||||||Some suggestions: ||- refurb changing rooms to include lockers with in built locks ||- replace hairdryers with more modern style, and add hair styling tools ||- Replace small water dispenser with something more substantial||- remove foot baths as they've not worked any of the three times I've visited over the last three years
