Just had an absolutely fabulous Sunday roast at the Brit. Rare roast beef done properly, rested properly and served with amazing fresh veg, rounded off with gallons of gravy. The other choice this week was pork loin, which once again, was truly delicious. 2 plates of exceptional quality food for just £25, yes, that’s correct, £25 for 2 not per plate. What’s not to love about Bischoff Belgian waffles to round off a lovely lunch! We actually popped in for lunch here yesterday as well, once again, high quality, well cooked food with generous servings. Very, very highly recommended.

Nice old pub. Hospitality breakfast advertised both on website and in folder in room.
When we arrived and asked about breakfast this was not the case. We were told they no longer offer breakfast. One member of staff told us we would not have got breakfast at the price we had paid.
On looking in the folder in our room there was a laminated sheet of paper advertising a hospitality breakfast.
When I politely took this up with a friendly member of the team he kindly said he would look into this for us.
We were then informed that because they were still advertising breakfast they would supply us with cereals, milk, tea, coffee, yogurts and fruit in the morning.

Thank you to the lovely gentlemen who was happy to go out of his way to resolve the issue we had.

Room was clean and tidy.

Noise levels from bar below room not guest friendly.
Doors banging and intermittent noisey talking in corridor until early hours of the morning.

Unfortunately would avoid staying here again and because of the issues we encountered we would not be able recommend. Which is a shame as there is so much potential.

Had lunch today and was so impressed, as it is the best Roast Beef Lunch I have had in years. As a retired chef I am not overly fussed about fancy and expensive food, and this was just perfet, and as near the best possible as it could be, and felt like eating a beautiful home cooked meal. I asked for the beef to be pink free (I know, but it is my choice) and the two huge slices were perfect, moist and delicious. The vegetables were really well cooked with just the right bite, whilst the garlic and rosemary Roasties (3 large ones) were crisp and delicious. A huge Yorkshire pud accompanied the meal and the delicious gravy came in a large boat, with the horseradish just the right side of eye-watering! The staff are lovely, and really on the ball, efficient, friendly and fast. My only quibble is that whilst my 'bought-in' cheesecake was fine and tasty, my friend's also bought-in Lemon Meringue Pie was far from it. I tasted it and frankly it was prety dire. To be fair, after we spoke to the young lady who served us, they deducted the price, and I hope they might look into making their own puds, as that would obviously be to the same high standard as the mains, and round off a really lovely experience next time. Prices are absolutely fine and I look foward to more tasty meals at this super venue.

Booked a room here, as we were attending the Pride event. The check in isn't until 4pm, when we were due to be watching a band. I tried to check in a bit earlier, but was told I couldn't until 4pm, no-one even checked to see if room was ready. Room comfortable and spacious, in a great location. We were told breakfast was a self-service affair, and that it was limited, but their website says to mention dietary requirements, so I told them we were vegan. On going down to breakfast, there was no soya milk, no butter whatsoever, hardly any glasses and no cereal.|Such a shame they do not make more of an effort to accommodate guests, as this will stop me returning. We have many overnight stays in Sherborne and the location is brilliant.

One of … if not the best Roast I’ve had in a very long time!! ||Lovely new decor after the refurbishment, we enjoyed a Sunday roast for reasonable pricing and the option of a medium or large portion. ||The menu was the right amount of choice - traditional pub offerings - and actually I liked not having three pages to peruse! ||The food!!!!! 5 Star!!! Yorkshire - proper home made, the variety of vegetables were flavourful and beautifully presented. |The meat - succulent and well seasoned|Roast potatoes - perfectly cooked and the right amount of gravy. |Catered for my vegetarian friend wonderfully too. ||The staff all friendly, welcoming and made us feel at ease immediately! ||Toilets - sorry my thing - clean and well decorated, always a relief when you’re about to eat somewhere!

Enjoyed a lush Sunday roast here today. Plated food rather than a walk-up which suited us perfectly as we're a bunch of elderly (but fun-loving!) friends. Generous portions, lashings of tender vegetables and a great gravy. Puddings looked delicious but none of us had room for one. The whole menu is very reasonably priced and worth every penny. Can't fault the staff either - the barman (landlord?) and waitress were jolly and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Lovely clean tables and a good atmosphere, with locals in the sports bar next door laughing and having fun. Will definitely return. Thank you so much The Britannia Inn!

I took mum for lunch on mother's day. What a lovely day . She will be 90 in may. The lunch was fabulous, served to us with, friendly chat ,lots of laughter. Could not have wished for more. In the bar afterwards was a brilliant atmosphere, happiness that we could all do with these days. Prices impressive, service outstanding. The place to go to with out any worries. Thank you so much for making mums day a day to remember...

We visited the Abbey but happened to park opposite the Britannia and on the off chance stuck our noses in to see if they could take a couple of "walk-ins " for Sunday lunch about an hour later. The landlord could not have been more accommodating. ||Returning at about 1 pm we both selected the topside of beef one large, and one medium asking for it to be rare. Both were delivered on hot plates, a rarity these days with a range of seasonal vegetables, a delicious "Yorkshire" and plenty of gravy. Everything was spot on.|We rounded it off with a pair of Pana cottas which were unusual but extremely good value for money.|The beer was well-kept.||A high level of service throughout.||If we lived closer we would be regulars. For locals and Sherborn residents don't overlook this good value gem.
