My son and I stayed here recently and had a lovely time away together. Chris was an amazing host, very informative and showed us everything including the still working signal box simulator. Local pub food superb and Chris made an excellent full English breakfast. Very special place with history and a war memorial with a sad story.

Totally loved our stay. Chris is the perfect host and made us so welcome. Brilliant base for walking stages of the Tamara Coast to Coast Way. If we'd known how fabulous it was we won have stayed the whole route and just caught train to various starting points. Highly recommended. It was novel a d memorable. Loved all the original features.

What an incredibly unusual place to stay! We had spotted it when on a train from Plymouth to Gunnislake. It is a few hundred yards from the train station, in a quiet location, and is a great place to visit using public transport. ||On arrival (later than arranged due to one train being late meaning we missed our connection) we were made to feel welcome by the owner, Chris and he served us tea and cake.||Chris, is an amazing chap who is obsessive about the railways and was full of useful information. ||There are a choice of carriages to book. ||When I saw the bed I was a bit worried if I would get any sleep. However it was comfortable. I found it problematic that the other guests in the next room put the TV on and I could hear every word. But my tiredness meant I soon fell asleep. ||Our breakfast was served in an original dining car. Chris cooked it and it was as good as you will get anywhere! ||On some evenings Chris also cooks a dinner but not the night we were there.||The cost was reasonable. It was different and memorable.||If you want to try something different then be sure to stay at The Tamar Belle. You do not have to be a rail enthusiast to enjoy the experience. We will definitely return.

A lovely place to stay for a couple of nights, strongly recommended. Good breakfast, lovely spot, great host. An unexpected treat, will come and stay again. Bere Ferrers itself is a great spot to explore the rest of the Tamar Valley, and there is a good pub (the Olde Plough) in the village too.

We stayed here for two nights using this as a base, in conjunction with the branch railway line, whilst walking two legs of the Tamara Way. This worked really well. A unique experience ! Chris is a great host, thoughtful and attentive and extremely knowledgeable about all things to do with local heritage and national railways. He is also cooks a great evening meal and breakfast. The carriages are comfortable and well equipped. We loved it.

A really quirky place to stay while walking the Tamara Way. Very welcome tea and cake on arrival and Chris was full of useful info. Great breakfast. Very handy being on the Plymouth to Gunnislake branch line which still runs. Comfy beds and lots of hot water

Our stay at the Tamar Belle was very memorable. It is a unique setting, on a short stretch of railway line next to the railway station. We slept in 2 adjoining carriages, which were very comfortable. There was plenty of space and as well as a bed, old style first class carriage seats provided spacious seating. Both had bathrooms but only 1 had a bathtub. There was plenty of hot water in the morning.||||Chris is very friendly and a mine of information about the area and of course the railways. He provided good breakfasts. He is "old school" and doesn't take credit cards. Booking was done in an old-fashioned way by sending a deposit cheque through the post. Prices are very reasonable.||||The location is very quiet - there is only 1 train passing each hour and they do not run at night. And of course you are right on the spot for using the Tamar Valley train line - we went on a day out to Plymouth.||||We enjoyed 2 excellent evening -meals in the village pub, just a few minutes walk away.
