We chose Shilstone as our wedding reception venue and couldn’t be more happy that we did. We had the most amazing day at this beautiful venue. We had the best day and cannot believe how well managed everything was. Everything ran like clockwork; there was no stress, everything was thought of and the team went above and beyond to make sure everything ran well.

Everything was perfect. We had so many compliments on the food - the best wedding food!

All the staff were great and very thoughtful.

We had also visited for Sunday lunches with our parents and had a great time; the food again was amazing. We will definitely be coming back for more Sunday lunches and to reminisce about our beautiful wedding day.

We ate at the Café on a Friday afternoon in June. Absolutely stunning food, a real hidden gem. The whole atmosphere, feel and service was exceptional and the food....boy we didn't expect the flavours and creativity. The menu doesn't give it justice to what's served, but I think that's a good thing. We'll definitely be back and recommending to friends and family! Hopefully it'll be better weather and we can sit outside in the sunshine amongst the gorgeous planters!

Absolutely beautiful food, service was outstanding, we went for Mother’s Day and they even gave my son flowers to give to me. They were brilliant. My only issue which isn’t with the venue, there were a large family behind us and they were extremely rude. We overheard them saying they weren’t planning on paying for their food, complaining about absolutely nothing, there was nothing to fault. Clearly just not nice people. They were very nasty to the staff which was absolutely not necessary. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back. Credit to how well the staff handled these awful people.

All roasts were delicious and well worth the money, and the mango parfait was one of the best deserts I've ever eaten! All the staff were friendly and very helpful and the setting is beautiful. Highly recommend and will definitely return! Hopefully we will explore the grounds more next time.

Stunning location and worth it once the narrow lanes have been navigated.
Through a narrow, stone pillared entrance and shortly presented with parking (lots of it) in the field to the right.
The restaurant and café are on foot to the left (atho' I think it is possible to drive to the café and Devon Archive and wedding chapel).
We had Sunday lunch which for 2, with 2 courses and a drink each came to £75.
Given what we have paid elsewhere for the same, this was actually good value.
We both had the beef + cauliflower cheese which was excellent and then the Seville Orange Chocolate dessert (likewise).
Afterwards, we had a wander around the grounds which is a bit hilly but interesting.
The staff were excellent too - v friendly, nothing too much for them
Dogs also welcomed!

Well how disappointing! Just been for Mother’s Day and Mother’s Day Sunday Lunch in the Barn. Cold food on cold plates cold atmosphere and lukewarm warm service! The next table had cold food and sent back too! The manger gave us a bottle of beer free and a £96 bill for a slice of beef the size of a beef burger! What a rip off. Won’t be going back.
