Normally when we eat here it is fine, however today I had Lasagna, the first fork I had produced a nice shard of plastic in my mouth, then noticing more in the food it was returned, apologies were given. I then requested fish and chips but was denied as the price was different, offering to pay the price, I was again denied and told had to have the same. Ate half the replacement did not enjoy, was offered no reduction for my extra PLASTIC. Bad experiences last longer than good.

To be clear this review is for the Mountbatten Hotel, 52 Exmouth Road, Plymouth.|Arrived at hotel to be greeted by friendly staff and told all about the hotel and what we needed in terms of local info.|I think there are only 4 or 5 rooms in the hotel - we had one with an ensuite shower room which was compact but adequate - plenty of hot water for a shower.|There is free parking outside and a good selection of tea and coffee and biscuits in the room.|We also had a good breakfast at the hotel to start the day.|Its close to a big park so great if you want a walk round - there is also a good cafe in the park.|Room and hotel was quiet, only improvement would be to put up some blackout curtains. |We would stay here again

If I could give zero stars I would. We ordered 2 meals and 2 drinks. Our food was plonked in front of us about 4 minutes after ordering, never enough time to cook it! However the scampi was burnt and the peas were like bullets, and the hunters chicken breast was cold and bone dry covered in hot BBQ sauce. We left both meals and drinks and walked out, over £40 wasted. The place was for sale so either the existing owners just don’t care, or the new owners need to seriously up their game! We are local, but definitely won’t be returning.

Not very friendly again, oh dear. It is very rare in my experience visiting this place that I receive a friendly welcome, but having decided to try again after oh, a decade of years probably, a young man behind the bar surprised me by being welcoming and pleasant. So therefore I returned a 3rd time (in 10 ish years because I vowed never to return) only to receive a miserable reception. |

On Thursday 4th July I met with a friend at the Mountbatten Hotel who bought me a coffee before we considered the menu. While waiting for the coffee at the bar the gentleman serving encountered a delay in the delivery of the beverage from an automated machine. The wait became protracted as it became evident it required restocking with respective loose ingredients. I took a seat at a table. The coffee was handed to me by my friend who intimated it had taken a little while to be dispensed. I proceeded to drink the coffee but found it had unpalatable however persisted with it as it had been bought for me. I eventually had to concede that it was undrinkable and took the beverage to the bar. The gentleman behind the bar offered to replace the coffee with another beverage. Having frequented many restaurants cafes and bars it is evident that coffee when procured through plastic powder operated vending machines fail to deliver an enjoyable coffee experience that equates with steam pressure espresso machines offered by more discerning catering outlets.

Had a really nice stay here for 2 nights, owners were very welcoming and accommodating which made me appreciate everything so much more.
Free parking outside was a god send as I was worried about the parking situation!
Room had everything you need inside.
Great price for the rooms in my opinion when you compare with the chain hotels.
Would definitely stay here again if I’m down in Plymouth again and would recommend it to anyone travelling down for business or leisure.

Very welcoming hosts.
Large comfy room. Bay windows looking out over the park where there is also a community cafe.
Front door was quite difficult to get into for me and some stair and hall carpets were loose which was a little problematic for limited mobility.
Overall a very pleasant stay

Many of the reviews on here aren't for the correct place! This is Mountbatten Hotel, Devonport, Plymouth. It's opposite Devonport park and is a guesthouse. It has free onstreet parking. There are several rooms including single, double ensuite and family ensuite. We had Room 2, on the first floor. It was spacious, comfortable and clean. There were tea and coffee making facilities, complete with hot chocolate sachets and biscuits. There was a comfy bed, and two lovely armchairs. The bathroom was on the small side but had all that was needed including body wash and hand wash. Plenty of towels too. The staff were friendly and polite. In the park opposite is a cafe and a co-op just a couple of streets away. We wouldn't hesitate in returning when in the area.
