We stayed here using a voucher for a dog friendly stay and couldn’t have asked for more. The room was nice and cosy - plenty of room for us to put a large dog bed in too. The staff were very attentive and friendly too and couldn’t do more for us. Breakfast was served so quickly yet everything was cooked to perfection. I decided to swap a few things and this wasn’t a problem at all. The location is ideal for discovering places near by such as the Dovedale stepping stones and there’s a town not far away at all if you wanted to get food etc. We will definitely be back soon.

Visited for a Sunday lunch on 29th December 2024. Owner and staff were welcoming and attentive. We had a roast pork dinner, very tender and tasty, the vegetables were perfectly cooked, as were the potatoes. Prices are very reasonable. We have visited a few times before, and it's always the same excellent standard. You won't find a better Sunday lunch if you're having a day out in this area.

Camping locally and called in for some food. Brilliant place with a lovely couple running a great operation here. Was made really welcome, grabbed a drink and logged onto their fast Wi-Fi without issue. Decided to stay for some dinner and glad I did as the homecooked food was superb and really good value for money. Unsure if this is a regular thing, but wanted to try to enjoy breakfast there the following morning (I wasn't a guest there) and they kindly agreed. Turned up at the arranged time to a reserved table and had one of the best breakfasts I'd had in a long time. Great service, location, food and environment. Will definitely be back and hopefully this time to stay over too.

Deceiving from outside, worth going in for great food and good beers. Quaint bar and small restaurant area, friendly welcome. Have visited for lunch and evening meal, both first class and good value.

Lovely place. Clean room, perfect size for 2. Food is to a high standard
Landlady is super nice. Be careful to check your booking date as some websites like to jump it forward 1 month lol 🙃. Thank-you for sorting that out comfortably for us

We stopped off here for a little break on the way to Matlock Bath. The bar was small and cozy (ideal on a winters day!) and the service was excellent. Beers were good and whilst we didn't stay for food, all the tables were reserved, so it must be good! Might stop off for dinner on the way home.

Where are these reviews coming from? To be clear, the place is absolutely adequate. But nothing more, certainly not ‘luxury’. We laughed when we saw the accommodation & bathroom. It’s like an old mini, cute, small and basic. The people are super friendly, breakfast was a delicious. Easy to park your car, setting is lovely, just don’t expect anything from the room. They should drop the ‘luxury’ tag from their description - this is a 2-star place.
