Food was great on Sunday so we came back Monday. We had steak & chicken sandwiches with chunky fries. New chef introduced himself. Food was piping hot & good portion. 👍 Great atmosphere well managed pub. Dog friendly kid friendly great outdoor area with heaters.

As soon as we walked in The Peacock, we had a friendly reception from the barman, Josh. As my husband is allergic to dogs it was so refreshing to find an establishment that is mainly dog free. We had a lovely lunch and the service was excellent. There are so many venues in Bakewell that are dog friendly so for us, this place was a godsend.

Stayed at the Peacock following a bike ride up and down the Monsal Trail. Received a warm welcome and was very impressed with the room - it was cosy, well decorated and spotless. The bed was comfortable and tea/coffee and shower gel/shampoo provided (I'd advise taking a small conditioner if you have long hair though, just personal preference!).||Was given easy instructions on how to get back in if the pub had closed after I'd been out (which it was). I wasn't sure on checkout time but left at 10am and there were a couple of team members downstairs getting the pub ready for opening so didn't take long to find someone.||If you're an extremely light sleeper I'd take some earplugs, there was a bit of whirring possibly from fridges downstairs in the kitchen, but it wouldn't bother most people!||I'd definitely recommend staying here and would book again. Considering I was travelling alone I felt safe and comfortable during my stay.

We only had food and drinks, but got to say this was one of the best meals I've ever had. The steak pie was beautiful, and the service was really friendly. Would definitely come again!!

When visiting with my family - I was very disappointed with almost all aspects of our experience. The service was substandard with a very rude bartender, drinks were flat, and when concerns were raised we were met with an appalling attitude from the bar manager and no effort to accommodate us. On top of this the facilities were tired and in need of updating including the toilets which were quite frankly disgusting. Considering we were visiting at half term, we now understand why this pub was nearly empty and most of the others were full…best avoided!

Don't expect a warm welcome.
The place is clean and offers a good selection of drinks and seating as you walk in. So far so good but the middle aged guy behind the bar is so unfriendly and abrupt if he had not already started to pour the 4 drinks we ordered I would have walked out.
We drank up and went next door and much more friendly and welcoming.

Good beer selection, apparently dog friendly area at the back of the pub which was full so allowed to stand at the bar. Was wanting to eat as menu looked ok but even though area with wooden floor that was empty, not allowed to sit there as not dog friendly area. Decided to go somewhere proper dog friendly to spend our money. Will definitely not return even if they change their rules. We have had a response that I'd like to respond to. We were told there was one table in the dog area, not 3, never told about underfloor heating or bowls of water available when we had a conversation at the bar area, so response not accurate of events.

We have often eaten at the Peacock for several years and have always enjoyed the food and service there. We’ve taken friends and family there for meals previously too. Today, we’ve experienced some of the worst customer service we’ve ever had anywhere and the food was well below what we’ve received in previous visits. There was no apology by the staff members (including the one who has always served us) and, thus, we have no intention of spending are hard earned money there again. I don’t know if there has been a change in management at the Peacock, but something has definitely changed there.
