We visited this weekend as a pair of old school friends. We loved our stay with Jane. She's a fantastic host and we loved the location and did some wonderful walks from the farm. Beds are very comfy. Room was a good size and had a kettle and everything we needed. Great hot shower. Lots of local information and books. Very quiet except for birdsong and occasional noises of lambs and cows. Jane even had a fridge for us to use to keep our cheese and wine cool on this hot weekend. Guests can use the front garden next to the lambs field and we spent a lovely afternoon in the shade of the trees there watching the animals. It is like stepping back in time, for us in an utterly charming way, but if you are looking for boutique hotel decor and fluffy white towels this probably isn't the place for you. If you want to experience life on a real working family farm (the home the host was born in) then it's a real gem.

Had a lovely overnight stay with Jane and family at Bank Top Farm. A very warm welcome, it was a joy to stay at a traditional family farmhouse, seeped in history. We had the Family Room which was perfect for a family of four, even had an ensuite which I was not expecting. Room extremely clean and comfortable, which stayed dark after sunrise. In fact, we were so cosy in bed we nearly overslept breakfast!!! Delicious breakfast in the morning and a stroll around the farm to say hello to the calves and admire the beautiful hanging baskets. Was so lovely of Jane to welcome us into her family home, with additional lounge rooms for us to enjoy full of photos across the years. Loved our stay and will definitely be back.

My wife and I stayed at Bank Top Farm just north of Hartington for four nights in August 2021. It is a very characterful, authentic and charming bed-and-breakfast. The hostess is very kind and accommodating and the full English breakfast not to be missed - it provides the perfect start each morning for adventurers in the Peak District. Our room way spacious and like the farm, full of charm. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom very clean and well equipped. Nearby Hartington is a beautiful little village and a convenient place to base oneself for day-trips within the Peak District. I would highly recommend Bank Top Farm to anyone looking to visit the Peak District who wants a genuine experience of living, if only for a short while, in the English countryside. 5 stars, 10/10, A+++.

Very old vintage look house located in the corner of the village. Very narrow road to reach the location.
Beautiful surroundings for trekking and walking.
They have 3 bedrooms in the first floor.
Out of 3 bedrooms 2 was good but one room is not in a good condition.
We stayed in the corner bedroom which is not good.
Very old and full of dust.
Unable to close the doors & windows.
There’s no lock for the door.
There’s no proper maintenance
Heaters also not working
First day itself we didn’t got hot water for shower.
Nice garden with lambs and cows.
Car parking is available.

This really is a working farm and if you take the time to ask Jane about it she'll give you some insight about daily routines which is a treat for a Melbourne city girl like me who loves sheep and cows! Lovely quiet rural area with an easy 10 minute walk into Hathersage. Jane cooks a very generous breakfast which will keep you going until dinnertime, even if you do some big hikes! Fresh juice, tea/coffee, cereals, fruit, then the hot stuff. Had my first oat cakes here and loved them!

We stayed here three weeks ago during very hot weather. Our room was spacious and cool despite the heat outside. We had one small, but comfortable double bed and a single. Decor is traditional and furniture farmhouse style. We had a really good night's sleep. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided and a nice touch was a jug of fresh milk left outside our room. The breakfast was filling and tasty and Mary ensured we had everything we needed. The place has a real sense of history and I suspect Americans would love it. Highly recommended.

Return to a rustic world, almost unchanged for a century. Situated on a working farm at the head of a small valley. Enjoy a simple life in an area popular with walkers.
Jane is the wonderful host and her breakfasts are excellent.

We had a wonderful stay at Bank Top Farm in April and I cannot recommend Jane's hospitality more highly. From start to finish, she was attentive, informative and made us feel at home. The house exudes authenticity and rustic charm without the usual shabby chic look. Bank Top Farm offers stunning views and near total seclusion. The perfect getaway.
