An exceptionally friendly and lovely place to stay. The whole team could not do more to make you feel at home. Clean spacious rooms. Lovely restaurant serving fresh cooked meals with good portions at sensible prices. The bar is excellent and the local people are very friendly to visitors. The landlady what a star! Minor accident disabled our car. She managed on saturday morning to arrange a friendly mechanic to get us back on the road. Loads to do nearby including the National Memorial Arboretum, canal and river walks and of course the lovely City of Lichfield. Set in a very scenic area. One of the nicest places we ever stayed. We will be back. Thank you.

What a gem of a pub (unlike one of same name nearby) brilliant well cooked food served by friendly and attentive staff who go out of their way to make customers welcome. Meat all from a local butcher and veg fresh and tasty. Dog made welcome. We ate at bar as dogs not allowed in restaurant. Good beer, great atmosphere, fantastic food. Real proper crammed full steak pie, rich gravy, proper mushy peas and chips to die for. Reasonable price too. Five stars are just not enough and this small review cannot adequately express our happiness with this place.

We had an excellent lunch here while visiting the village of Hamstall Ridware. Despite its name, it has a good range of vegetarian options, and we really enjoyed the bagette with veggie sausages. We had a very warm welcome, a quiet atmosphere, and great service. The bar area is set out in attractive alcoves, and everything (including the toilets) was scrupulously clean. Prices are very reasonable, and there is ample parking. If we lived nearer, we would be regular customers.

If you love the countryside and a relaxing drink with great pub food. This place is lovely. Its not fancy just an old fashioned pub. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home.|Great base if you like your country walks.|The room was a fair price and came with a spa bath and a super king bed overlooking a fields of sheep.

We booked to stay for the night as a stopover and half way point between home in Bath & visiting family in West Yorkshire.||The pub was a really welcome & memorable visit. The room was nice and clean and we all throughly enjoyed the home cooked meals in the evening.||The breakfast was also top notch, the owner makes you feel so welcome and was very thoughtful. We will definitely return here again when doing the same trip.

What a lovely friendly pub.We booked for a meal as we hadn't been for a long time. The staff make you feel immediately welcome and there's no rush to get you in and out. The food was excellent and the choice of drinks, ales and gins, was enough to keep anyone happy. We had starters mains and desserts and when the bill came I was surprised at the value compared to other places we have eaten locally. We will certainly be going again.

We came here for dinner on a Saturday night and unfortunately suffered a major puncture on the way. The staff were incredibly lovely, even offering to take a look and change the tyre. |We ended up staying for quite a few hours waiting for the RAC but the staff here were just lovely and kept checking in on us.||The food was delicious, chicken goujons and the steak & kidney pie. Portions were very generous, clearly good quality ingredients and very tasty.|Daughter had a sizeable chocolate & Jaffa orange cake for pudding which she could not finish! (Eyes bigger than her belly!!)||In the bar area while we waited for recovery were were able to amuse ourselves with a selection of games and quizzes, use the WiFi and make use of the comfortable surroundings and clean toilet facilities.||We would 100% love to come back here when we are back up this way.

This was my second stay here. Firstly I will say the friendliness and hospital vibe are very high at this establishment, nothing is too much trouble for them and are very accommodating.|Had one of the smaller rooms that unfortunately was on the top floor accessed only by two flights of steep stairs and no lift, which can prove a little bit difficult with heavy luggage. I felt that some of the furnishings were a little tired and some items in the room in need of upgrading and/or replacing, but a comfortable bed and clean. |Because of the overall great spirit of the place, the people who run it and good quality of food, I would come back.|Next time hopefully with less luggage and choose a lower floor room.
