Didn't stay so not basing my review on accommodation only on eating in the restaurant.

We visited with some friends as we were visiting for the weekend and they have been here a number of times and have to say we were disappointed.

The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived for our table booking at 7pm with only a couple of other tables being occupied but it took nearly ten minutes for us to be seated at our table.

I opted for the Pan-Fried Scallops & Prawns starter and Pan Fried Sea Bass for main so thought it would be nice to accompany this with a glass of white wine. Unfortunately the wine was at least at room temperature and felt like it had been warmed prior to serving.

The starter of Pan-Fried Scallops & Prawns was swimming in some kind of flavourless sauce which I concluded was to hide the fact there wasn't many scallops or prawns, I think I ended up with two very small scallops and three measly little prawns.

My main of Pan Fried Sea Bass was also absolutely swimming in another flavourless sauce served lukewarm with approx. seven pieces of diced tomato, strange garnish for such a dish in my opinion! I opted for potatoes instead of chips which was served in a bowl with a small amount of veg that was to be shared between others diners, again it was lukewarm at best.

My wife had the Cod Loin for main which was even colder than my food.

Staff were polite and welcoming but service was extremely slow with us needing to summon staff to us as opposed to them being attentive and proactive to see who was in need of attention.

On the plus side at least we were poorly as a result of cold / undercooked seafood!

Summing up the visit: overpriced cold food that wasn't value for money.

The Rag is a fantastic place to socialise, unwind and have some good banter with the locals. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and the staff are fantastic. Absolute credit to the owners for creating an absolutely lovely place to be. The food is exceptionally good too, always cooked fresh with local ingredients and always cooked to a high standard. A truly wonderful evening with family members spent here. It is a really lovely setting out in the countryside, a fabulous outdoor area with plenty of comfortable seating. The staff were great, very polite and helpful. The food was amazing, good hearty pub food with a splash of finer dining mixed in. Good value for money and generous portions. They seem to have everything there. A bowling green on the one side, countryside all around, a handful of caravan pitches, two outdoor seating areas, a good sized car park. Several seating areas inside. All in all a really nice evening at the rag. Many thanks to the staff and establishment for a truly wonderful evening.
