Valerie is a fantastic hostess. She has only one room which is really sweet (and a massive shower in the en-suite, very luxurious) In the morning we were treated to a full Irish breakfast complete with fresh fruit, yoghurt and a gorgeous array of breads on the side...and wonderful coffee. Valerie coudln't do enough for us, recommending places to eat nearby and being super welcoming despite the fact that my flight was delayed so we arrived MUCH later than expected. THe breakfast is fab, the room comfy and Valerie is fascinating and we had lovely chats with her. I would totally recommend this B&B.

My wife and I stayed at the Gravel Bank in July 2014. I originally booked our room with Valerie because of the positive comments on Trip Advisor and Gravel Bank's proximity to the Belfast International Airport... not realizing that I had booked our flight into the Belfast CITY Airport. I'm so happy for the error. ||||The property is wonderful, and Valerie is amazing. The building dates from the mid 1700's and the room is converted to a cozy double en-suite from the old tack room. It is cheery and bright, with natural light provided by a window and a skylight. There is a small separate entryway with room for luggage, coats, and shoes. There is a bathroom with shower more spacious than many we've encountered on our travels around Europe. The bed is smaller than the Queen size bed most Americans would be used to finding, but it was quite comfortable with a thick comforter and electric blanket! Yes, it can still get quite chilly in Northern Ireland even in July. The room, entry way, and bath are separated from the property by a breezeway so it is quite private and very quiet. Despite being only a few minutes from the airport I never once heard a plane from our room. I will mention that there is no WiFi at the Gravel Bank, and there is no phone in the room, but if you're looking for a quiet getaway I'd put that down in the "Plus" column. ||||In good weather breakfast was in a fantastic sun room with grapes growing from vines all around and in the front room next to the stove when it rained. There are beautiful bright flowers everywhere and a burn running under a stone bridge just off the sun room. Breakfast itself was fantastic! Traditional breakfast with bacon, eggs, different kinds of sausages, soda bread, potato bread, pancakes and butter. Tea, coffee and juice. Fresh strawberries and raspberries with yogurt and cream on offer. Even after all of that Valerie was sure to ask if there was anything ELSE we wanted. ||||The food was great and the property is very nice, but what makes the stay most memorable is Valarie. She was welcoming and kind, and immediately addressed any of our needs as they came up. We had only a long weekend to see a number of sites all across Northern Ireland, and I very much wish that we'd had more time to take advantage of Valerie's local knowledge to see more of the immediate area. Oh, and she made all the great food I mention above! ||||The Gravel Bank is in Crumlin, Northern Ireland. It is situated just a few minutes from the International Airport and about 35 minutes from the Belfast City Airport . We used it as our base for trips to Dunluce Castle, The Giant's Causeway, Banbridge Town, the Legananny Dolmen, Antrim Town, Strangford and Portaferry, the Ards Peninsula, Carrickfergus and Belfast. It is comfortable, cozy, and private. The price was good and it was convenient for our particular needs. We contacted Valerie through her website, http://www.gravelbankbedandbreakfast.co.uk/ .||||Above all else, I cannot stress enough how much Valerie made our visit. I cannot recommend her, and the Gravel Bank, highly enough!

We were looking for aplace with character that would allow us to discover Lough Neagh and the surrounding area. Valerie provides a really personal service in a wonderfully individual fashion. Basic comforts in a beautiful cottage; really adaptable; fantastic surroundings; sound advice on local places to see / avoid.||really handy for both Antrim and Armagh; lovely food and great craic. We enjoyed visits to Oxford Island; a great folk music session in Antrim plus a wonderful morning exploring the truly fantastic Antrim Castle gardens; and a windswept but enjoyable day in Armagh.

We were blown away by how quaint and beautiful this place is. The room is very clean and comfortable, and separate from the main house. The conservatory where we had breakfast was incredible and so relaxing. Breakfast was a full spread and absolutely delicious!||Valerie is a wonderful host and amazing person, she welcomed us so warmly, and was constantly checking to make sure everything was alright. She went out of her way to make us feel welcomed, and comfortable. ||I would highly recommend staying here!

Great B&B. The host, Valerie is a charming and cosy woman. The room is in a separate small house to her own home. It is on a quiet location and beautiful surroundings. The breakfast was excellent. In the evening you can sit in the nice conservatory.

I have stayed at Gravelbank now two or three times and each time has been better than the last. A mixture of having our own space as the room is situated off a beautiful stableyard and the outstanding welcome from Valerie. Breakfast was marvelous cooked in traditional style on an Aga in a very comfortable home.

At only 15 minutes driving from Belfast International Airport lies this charming B&B. With a welcoming cup of tea and a warm bed on a cold autumn evening we felt right at home. With a very hospitable hostess, great quality in food and everything you need for staying at the countryside Gravelbank Bed and Breakfast is a place we'll sure visit again if we return to Ireland.
