Gables Nest - Birmingham

Basic and comfortable. This was our first visit to Birmingham and we wanted to stay somewhere affordable with free parking. This B&B is comfortable but dated and could use a revamp. The bed was small but quite comfortable. Our hostess was really nice, welcoming and friendly and guided us on places to visit.

The included English breakfast was ok but not great. The toast was cold by the time it reached our table and the bacon tasted like it had just come out of the microwave. Would have been nice to have a few more than just 1 mushroom on our plate. The room faced Coventry road and while clean was a tad noisy. All in all, a nice, affordable B&B for just £60/night.

Very welcoming landlady, and helpful in trying to find us a restaurant for the evening of our visit. Our room number 4 was right at the top of the house, via a steep windy staircase, very difficult to climb carrying a suitcase, for a pensioner. However the room was clean and comfy. It was small, with twin beds, but the double rooms were booked up. It was adequate for one night, but too small to stay in any longer. Breakfast was nice, full English, and off road parking was welcome. Good location, near NEC, and city centre. It is on the main road but our room was at the back so no traffic noise.

I was attending an event at NEC and the property is a 15 minutes taxi ride so it was convenient for us.||The room was clean, the beds very comfy. The toilet and shower were clean and worked well. A continental breakfast is included in the price.||About 5 minutes walk there is a big Tesco, in case you need groceries or shopping. You aren't allowed to bring hot food in your room to eat and you can't use the breakfast room either so you will need to eat lunch and dinner outside but there are a couple of restaurants nearby so it is not really a problem.

Marylin really is the most sweetest host and makes you feel at home the minute you walk thru the door! The rooms are very cosy, super clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. The continental breakfast is good, a lot of cereals to choose from, coffee, tea, orange juice, milk, fresh fruits and little buns (sorry, don´t know the exact word in english) We were there for a show at the NEC, and we will be back next year for the same show. There´s no doubt that we will stay at the Gables Nest again! I´m already looking forward to it.

Lovely welcome on arrival from both,nothing too much trouble, lovely clean room! Rooms were nice and warm just like the hosts, we had breakfast in the morning lovely boiled eggs on toast. Very nice hotel and will definately be back again 🙂

My sons and I stayed at Gables Nest for one night whilst attending a convention nearby. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, Marilyn. She was so friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious and together with the en-suite, it was spotlessly clean and after a long day, it was great to sleep in such comfortable beds. Overall, we were extremely happy with our stay and will not hesitate to do so in the future. If you are looking for cleanliness and friendliness you can't go wrong with Gables Nest.

Beds are very comfy,rooms are warm,shower water is as hot as you choose. Clean rooms,fresh towels. Landlady is lovely and though I was to early for the breakfast due to my training course,she made me continental breakfast and coffee which was much Appreciated. Huge tesco 2 mins walk and lots of take away food places all with walking distance. If I come back to this part of Birmingham I will def stay here. Thanks..James

Stayed over for one night to watch a football match at Villa Park. Very accommodating BB and surely great value. Location is superb with free parking and breakfast is excellent. Wifi worked good too although we were in the second floor. Will definitely stay over again if im back in the midlands.
