Marlene and Michael are perfect hosts, they welcomed us in and were very helpful. The room was lovely, very comfortable, with lots of touches which added to the enjoyment of the room - different types of pillows, so that we both ended up with a pillow that suited us, plug sockets next to the beds, a fan. The shower was gorgeous, running through a lava stone head. The beds were immensely comfortable, the breakfast was superb. Although the guesthouse was situated on a busy main road, we didn't hear the traffic at all, and had an excellent night's sleep. The guesthouse is perfectly situated for the NEC, airport and city, and has a variety of pubs and restaurants nearby. In the rooms are comprehensive folders full of information about the surrounding area and places of interest in the region, and Michael and Marlene are both very knowledgeable about the area too! I cannot recommend this guesthouse enough, and will definitely use it again on my next trip to Birmingham.

We booked the guest house for a single night when we flew into Birmingham from Canada. We needed a place to sleep off our jet lag before continuing our travel. We booked room 3 with ensuite bath. Marlene was very accommodating to us as we had traveled overnight for over 10 hours with our two small children. We were able to get into the room over an hour early to sleep. The room was tight space wise but we expected this and traveled very light (two large backpacks for our family of 4) so it was not an issue. There is a double bed and two single beds in the room. The children had no issues with their beds and slept soundly for almost 12 hours! The double bed was firm and thin and unfortunately quite uncomfortable. But the house itself was very quiet and the other room occupants were courteous. The full English breakfast was OUTSTANDING, as was the lovely conversation we were able to have with Marlene and Michael. The guest house is located on an easily accessible path from the airport and there is a gas station across the street and a couple of shops and restaurants within walking distance. That said it is a quite busy street and there aren’t a ton of restaurant options, just a couple. It was perfect for our short stay.

we stayed at the central guest house for one night in the family room as we were flying to Poland the next day & were going to watch the Nativity musical. We were pleasantly surprised with the room facilities were good, bathroom was nice & large. Most importantly for me the room was clean our children slept like babies in their beds. The hosts were very welcoming & made us feel at home, nothing was too much trouble & the breakfast was lovely. We will definitely return to Central in the future.

We were warmly welcomed by the hosts made to feel valued in a very helpful manner. Our room was basic and dated but nice and clean and good for the money. As per other reviews the water pressure was very poor but towels and toiletries were nice. Sadly our room faced the front which is right onto to a very busy very noisy dual carriageway so got no sleep all night so would not recommend if you are a light sleeper. Breakfast was basic but fine. Watch out for a charge on debit cards as well so take cash! Nice and close for NEC.

My friend and I stayed with Michael & Marlene overnight when seeing Take That at the Getting Arena. We had a lovely friendly welcoming, the room was a good size with a big bathroom and all amenities you needed. We ordered our breakfast the might before so it was all ready for us the next morning. M & M were very attentive and would definitely recommend to others. Great value for the price. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Fabulous veggie breakfast, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and Michael and Marlene were incredibly friendly and helpful. So why the 4 not 5 star? Mostly because the showers in the rooms right at the top of the house have inadequate water pressure and were barely usable. Also the on-site parking is first come first served, though there was plenty of parking on the road a short walk away. We'd definitely come again, though we'd ask not to be in the top floor....

4 of us stayed here for the Christmas Market in Birmingham. We had room 2 (twin) and room 3 (family). The guest house is a little dated regarding deco in the bedrooms but that doesn't detract from it being a good place to stay. There was parking outside (I've got a fairly large car and it took me a time to get it into the right spot, as not a lot of space with a kerb one side and steps the other. They do need to fit 4 cars on though) . The rooms were comfortable and both rooms had plenty of space. We did find room 2 had a small en suite (if you were on the larger side, you may struggle). Plenty of towels and lashings of hot water from the shower. Both rooms were very warm (I don't mind this and like being warm at night!) But my friends in room 3 were too hot. The 2nd night they turned off the radiator and opened the window which helped them sleep much better. Room 2 is on the main duel carriage way so could be noisy. I wear ear plugs at night so I didn't have a problem and my mum slept soundly. Room 3 is at the back of the house so quieter but the owners had their tv up quite loud and it did vibrate up into their room on both nights. Breakfast was lovely. 3 choices of cereal, plenty of toast and full English (ordered the night before and also you had to state what time you wanted it). Tea, coffee and juice on tap . The location was great. It was 20 mins into the city and bus stop a 2 minute walk. It cost £4 for a day saver rider. Marlene and Michael were pleasant and happy to talk to you and made us feel welcome. Coming to pay could have been an issue. I was paying for 2 so didnt want to be carrying huge amounts of cash around for the weekend so was going to pay by debit card. I was told there would be charge for this (normally debit cards do not accur a charge). It would have cost me £4.20 extra (on the family room, would have been £6.30!) . Luckily between myself and my mum we covered it but I think this needs to be looked at or put on website (as there is no where to say they charge). All in all a pleasant stay and if we ever need to stay in Birmingham again, we would stay here.
