Beautiful room, great location. Had a lovely overnight during our 2 week UK trip. We stayed in the 4 poster room - bed could have been a little more comfortable (thin mattress, no boxspring), but the room is sweet and the bathroom was nice and modernized with a spacious shower. The location is unbeatable - on a lovely quiet historic street while still being super close to the train station and great walking distance to the center. Self check in was seamless and easy. Would definitely recommend!

Our room was the perfect size and set up for my husband, son and me. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and I loved the decor. Staff are so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious- staff go out of their way to prepare what you like. This is a really special place, and I’m so glad we chose to stay here!!

We have just returned from a stay here and it was lovely from the get go. Staff were welcoming and helpful, rooms were to a high standard and had all the amenities you need for a short stay. We loved the large mugs for a cup of tea and the generous sized towels! (Usually our bug bears when we go anywhere)

Location is excellent and we will definitely stay here again if we return to York!

The guest house was ideally situated...just a 5 minute walk through the museum gardens or a 10 minute walk along the river... Both routes are beautiful. It was my husbands birthday & Fiona & the team were so welcoming & friendly providing balloons and champagne in the room. The bed is super comfy & the place was spotlessly clean.

Wonderful place to stay. We arrived in York early and the young lady that greeted us was very friendly and informative . Our room was t ready yet but we were able to leave out cases in the living room. |When we arrived back from our ice trail adventures , the room was cosy and very warm , we stayed in room 2 the four poster which was lovely. Very clean , well decorated in keeping with the house too . A fantastic tea and coffee tray. Underfloor heating in the bathroom and a very specious shower. The only thing I found was the pillows were very hard , could possibly do with being softer or medium feel. But didn’t spoil the night. The street is very quiet which is nice as York can busy, but you are only 5 minutes to the minister etc . |They had a little ‘tuck’ shop at the entrance , bottle of water 50p and sweets etc £1. Very handy and reasonable. |We decided to opt for the breakfast and it was a very good choice. Lovely range of fruit, cereals, yoghurts etc , plus excellent breakfast 🙌🏻💯. The staff were very helpful and polite , very welcoming nothing was too much and we couldn’t recommend enough , a gem in York’s crown 👑 for certain . We will be back 👍🏻💯

A warm welcome awaits you at this lovely guest house. We immediately felt comfortable here. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated with lovely ensuite bathrooms. A great location very close to the Minster via an easy walk through the Museum grounds. By the way, great breakfast too. Would highly recommend No 23 and will be back.

23 St Mary's is an excellent base for exploring York situated near to the Minster and the Museum Gardens. It is decorated stylishly; the bedroom is charming; the breakfast exceptional. We were grateful for the parking space! All round fab!

This was our second visit here - we were so impressed we just had to come back! From the beautiful building and decor to the fantastic breakfast you really can't find fault. The staff are so friendly, breakfast has a wealth of choice and has very good quality ingredients, plus the rooms are spotless. This is now our go to place to stay in York and we will definitely be returning.
