Big, Big thank you to all the staff for helping to make our recent 4 day visit & stay with you so enjoyable.
You all made us feel so welcome and nothing was ever to much trouble at any time.
So genuine and incredibly friendly.
Fantastic attention to detail and so dog friendly, he loved his big comfy bed together with the many treats that he received.
The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable and the Yorkshire breakfast was magnificent and kept us and our dog (Archie) who loved the sausages & bacon, sustained and hunger free for most of the day.
The Whisky Bar was an added and welcome bonus for a drink after a long day walking the streets and attractions of York.
This was only our first visit to the New Holgate and it will definitely not be the last to this little gem of a place.
It is a credit to all concerned and is highly recommended for the standards that have been achieved and maintained.
Being so close (5 Mins) to the railway station was an added bonus, with a very frequent bus service to your front door.
We are all looking forward to a return visit for more of the same wonderful Yorkshire hospitality in the near future.
Well done and thanks once again for all your effort and hard work, it was greatly appreciated.

Myself and my partner stayed at The New Holgate for 2 nights. We didn’t choose to include breakfast in our stay (purely because we wanted to eat out) and stayed in the standard double. The room was clean, beautifully presented and modern. Bed was very comfortable but felt a little smaller than a standard double, I would definitely go for the larger room on my next visit. Good location but took at least 15/20 minutes to walk to the centre for us. If you’re happy to walk I think it is a perfect location. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying at the New Holgate and we look forward to returning again soon!

This hotel is not too far from the centre, very clean and relaxing. The reception were very welcoming, polite and helpful. We really enjoyed our time in York. Thanks to the reception staff who made our Anniversary day special.

Had an awesome stay at New Holgate! Check in and check out was super easy and the whiskey lounge is gorgeous. The room was perfect - lots of space, clean, had everything you need. The staff were lovely, they made the whole experience super personal and made sure we had everything we need. We even got to try some new crisps! Thank you so much! 🙂

I booked a last minute stay with my partner and my dog. We had such a great time! The hotel was spotless clean, modern and very cozy. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a pleasant stay. Special thanks to Colleen, who is a star!

Thieves! Beware this hotel requires a deposit to be paid for the hotel room! Even if you only stay for 1 or 2 nights. They do not accept cash, the reason is because they then have the excuse that you paid the deposit via bank card and they do not have cash in the house. They promise to return the deposit to your account within the week, but that is not true. Not even with Booking's customer service intervention. I have been waiting for my deposit for 6 months now, we stayed only 2 nights and are a decent 55+ couple with no dog or children. We left the room undamaged and were going to get our deposit back. But so did not get it back. Their excuse is that they supposedly don't have our bank account number, however this was passed on to the hotel by me in the Bookin.com chat and by Booking customer service! Besides, the hotel is on a very busy road, in hot weather you cannot open the windows and no air conditioning. Stay away from this hotel. If you sum up overnight stay plus deposit, you are better off taking a more expensive hotel in the center of York.

I have just spent two night at the New Holgate hotel whilst working at Yorks local radio station Y01. I can fully recommend this establishment, I stayed in the St Paul suite which was private, pleasant and characterful.
I had two great night sleep in the lovely comfortable bed, every member of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with everything I asked for. As for the breakfast, I went for the Yorkshire full breakfast which was incredible, so much so I didn’t need to have lunch as I was still full from this well cooked and presented treat. I look forward to returning here in the future.

My first interaction when arriving at about 2:15 was that because I was 45 minutes early I'd have to pay an early arrival fee! I declined left and came back.

The room was clean and big enough in my opinion. You could not open the windows or control the heating so this was an issue, I could crack the window open with a wedge in there but it had to be wedged.

The app was not very intuitive, you can order milk to your room from the app but I had to click through everything to find it. You'd think it would be in the room service app but no.

You had to request fresh towels as well, I understand the concept of keeping this limited but when left in a pile in the bath you'd have hoped they would get the message.

It was clean which is the main one for me and I'd go back but I'd hope they take onboard the feedback which we left.
