I booked this place for my 2 kids and my brother as a 1 night stop over as we were going to Liverpool vs Arsenal match. We arrived around 1.30 pm to check in to find there was no room for us. An excuse was made that a couple of rooms were trashed the night before but, this did not wash as they asked me how long ago I booked the room, which was 2 months ago, by the way. The guy who greeted us appeared to be trying to sort something and it was agreed for me to call him afterwards to see if there was any progress. I made the phone and still no room. I decided that was enough of that and phoned hotels.com to source another room. Eventually we got some where to stay no thanks to Shanks guesthouse. Do not stay here or book elsewhere if you already have booked. Hotels.com should be ashamed of themselves for letting cowboys like these to advertise on their website.

I stayed here whilst visiting Liverpool for a friend’s birthday. The place was a state, I didn’t want to sleep here but we’d already paid. I had to sleep in my coat with the hood up. I left here and two days later I developed infected spider bites, my leg is still scarred and so am I. Avoid like the plague.
