A beautifully located hotel with extremely attentive and helpful staff. The food is excellent with a very extensive menu and very well presented. We had arranged a big family lunch there in one of the function rooms . All the staff were helpful but particularly Donna and Paul. Paul performed his “master of ceremonies” bit with professionalism and gusto and thanks to his input the day went like clockwork. The rooms are very comfortable- light ,bright and clean. The grounds are fabulous to sit in, dine or walk around. The hotel is easily accessible from the major roads. A really lovely venue to stay whilst exploring Lancashire

A little late in posting this recommendation but better late than never. We (Unique Ladies Business Network) used Farington Lodge for our International Women's Day celebration in March. ||The venue received so many compliments from our guests.||As the organiser, the communication was second to none. They were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all incredible. The food was delicious.||A beautiful venue with delightful grounds.

We decided to book Farington Lodge for our brother’s 75th birthday celebration meal, and, as we had family members travelling long distance to attend,we thought it would be ideal as they could stay over too.|On arrival we were meet with attentive and very pleasant staff. |On recommendation from the Maître d we all opted for the roast beef main. Big mistake. To say we were disappointed with the food is an understatement. |Two members of our party ordered the pâté starter. It was served with 2 thin, tiny & burnt triangles of what was described as white bread that had been flattened with a rolling pin and then burnt to a crisp to accompany a large amount of pâté. |I and another guest had the soup which was extremely peppery but overall ok. |Then came the main event….the recommended ‘roast beef’. My family and I are from Yorkshire so we know a thing or two about a roast beef dinner and ‘all the trimmings’. |We were served what appeared to be very thin slices of beef which looked very similar to sliced roast beef from a supermarket deli counter under which the ‘vegetables’ were hidden. Over cooked broccoli that was so past its best it had started to turn yellow. Carrots that had not seen a drop of water, hard and dried up, baby corn and green beans. The ‘roast potatoes’ were exactly the same as Aunt Bessie’s all uniform in size, colour and covered in semolina. I work in prisons and they were 100% the same as the ones served up in the prison canteen! Each Yorkshire pudding was exactly the same size, depth and shade of very pale brown. Again just like Aunt Bessie’s. Never do Yorkshire puddings cook evenly and uniformly. A minuscule amount of gravy was poured over the plate. |We had to go in search of staff to request more gravy. The meal was so dry and awful that we needed more gravy to make it in anyway palatable. |Out of sheer embarrassment we did not complain on the night. We did not want the family members who had travelled a long distance to be there to have to witness that. ||After a family discussion a few days later, we decided that we should convey our concerns to the management, if only to spare others the disappointment that we felt. A week later we received a partial refund. However, this does not compensate us for the embarrassment and disappointment of the situation that we experienced on what should have been a wonderful evening. |It’s is such a shame that the chef/kitchen staff are allowed to serve such appalling food. It’s almost as though they think we are so stupid we will think it is acceptable. Well I’m sorry it is not acceptable. When people get substandard food they march with their feet.

We had once again a wonderful stay at the Farington Lodge Hotel. The service from all staff was exceptional especially Paul who welcomed us and arranged for our luggage to be collected from the car and delivered to our room. We had lunch on arrival served quickly in the bar which was much appreciated! Our Easter dinner was excellent and we had to have extra desserts to satisfy our need to enjoy a wide variety of choices! The rooms are spacious, very clean and our every need was catered for, whatever we needed was already available or sorted out on request. The reception staff are always helpful and pleasant with Damien making sure all our needs were met. The best part for me was the cooked breakfast in the morning! I always enjoy a full English this time it was the best I have had cooked to perfection for my taste! Plenty of it too with quick service which I need at Breakfast after a good night's sleep! Thank you very much to all the staff we do visit quite regularly as the customer service is so high.

I’ve stayed here many times over the years. The hotel’s in a beautiful setting full of mature trees, it’s got a very calm ambience.
Staff are excellent and the (Exec) rooms are nicely done shd fairly priced, though hard to keep cool (window limiters) on hot days.
Breakfast is good and my evening meal was also very good with quite an extensive choice.
My one gripe is the piped music which can be a bit too loud and frankly unnecessary.

This hotel is a wonderful find, not far off the motorway but still idyllic enough to be a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The hotel itself is quaint and has a real old world feel while still having all the mod cons you'd expect in a hotel.

The food is exquisite, the staff wonderful (especially Paul who runs the service at the tables with good humour and next level professionalism. I'll definitely be going back!
