We stayed here three nights and had the most enjoyable and lovely stay. Vicky and David could not have made us any more welcome. The house itself is a rambling delight and our room was light, bright and spotless. The shower was excellent as were the toiletries - hand made on site. The breakfasts were just fabulous, and sitting down with other guests to chat over yoghurt and compote and some of the best sausages I have ever tatsed was a daily treat. There is just something of "wellness" about the place which comes from its setting, the ethos that Vicky and David are building and the charm of the building. We can't wait for another opportunity to go and stay.

I assume that all the glowing reviews are from guests who did not stay in the small twin attic attic room at the top of the house. The farmhouse is lovely in a great, quiet location surrounded by fields, oozing charm and character and our hosts were friendly and helpful. We are not strangers to older style properties having lived in a listed 17th century thatched property with two vaulted, exposed beam bedrooms for 14 years, but this was a whole different experience and such a disappointment. The room (Robin) was at the top of two flights of stairs: the en-suite bathroom was a tiny wet room across a small landing, not forgetting the shower cap we had to place over the smoke detector above the top stair to prevent steam from setting it off. The free WiFi was unavailable at this level: the hot water could be hit and miss, presumably because it was being used elsewhere. The only facility for hanging was a shop dress rail and there were no drawers or shelves for your bits and pieces, no room for such luxuries. We banged our heads on the steep sloping walls so many times, I was beginning to feel like Quasimodo from all the crouching and stooping. Breakfast was OK especially if you like your bacon really well done and crispy, which on day one we thought was just a culinary mishap, but as it bordered on cremation on day two, we assumed was the norm. The adorable Labrador, however, a regular at breakfast, loved it. The requested time limit to be out of the property between 11.00 and 16.00 was (no mention on the website) was unexpected: only so much sight-seeing us old fogies (mid-70s) can soak in one day. I dare say the other three rooms at this property are lovely with all the bells and whistles and perhaps I am being unreasonable in expecting better for what we paid, or at least a description of what to expect. Lesson learned.

My wife and I spent our wedding night here in May 2019. My mother booked it and it was absolutely lovely. Both Vicki and David were the perfect hosts, accomodating my fussy mother with the arrangements to make the time we spent there that much better. The breakfast was amazing. Bacon cooked perfectly, delicious home-made yogurt and compote, lashings of coffee and a hostess who knew more or less everything about the local area. It was beautiful and we had an amazing time there, kicking off our married life in lush, green surroundings. Thanks Vicki and David!!!

We stayed here for one night while walking the Weald Way. Everything felt luxurious when we'd walked half way across an OS map to get here - the bed was very comfortable, and both shower and bath were clean and functional. The location is quiet and dark at night (if you're accustomed to city living), conducive to a sound night's sleep. Breakfast was lovely (even for us awkward vegans) - especially the fresh and still warm sourdough tin loaf and cafetière coffee. The home-made bathroom products were a nice touch.||||We'ld definitely stay again, and would have no hesitation recommending Starnash to friends and colleagues.

We stayed here in late January as a family of five and it was just wonderful! Everything from the milk to the sourdough was delicious and all the cats were incredibly friendly (you can see Dixie waiting by the door in the photos). The rooms were comfy and the whole place looked like a perfect movie set! Vicky is an amazing host and I can’t wait to visit again

What did we do before TripAdvisor?||This little gem was getting amazing reviews.... So got it booked... Vicky and Dave were lovely... So was Vinny the friendly Labrador!||Our room (Pidgeon) was really beautiful. Opening up two windows created a beautiful breeze....||The handmade toiletries were fabulous and smelt amazing... I loved having a little bottle of milk in the fridge for a cup of tea. Perfect. ||Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the homemade yogurt was lush.||Thoroughly recommend this little gem. This is how B&Bs should be.

Perfect location tucked away in a small village near Eastbourne and close to great sights such as Seven Sisters Cliffs. Off the main road and within walking distance of a fab village pub. The room was spotless looking out on to the garden and countryside. A lovely treat to have fresh coffee and milk in the room. With access to a spacious communal​ living room for guests, come breakfast space with large wooden table. Vicky the host was lovely and providing local dinner suggestions. In the morning a super breakfast was provided. Really did feel like home, will be going back with friends for sure.

Excellent B&B. Such a nice place to stay. Can't recommend enough. Lady of the house makes a lovely breakfast and her own soaps / creams and shampoos. We had a wonderful stay!
