A group of 15 of us visited the Bunk Barn at Brenley farm for a hen weekend, with 10 of us staying overnight. We had seen one or two less favourable reviews and had adjusted our expectations accordingly, deciding that the excellent price would be worth it being a bit rough around the edges. In the end, we couldn't have been more delighted and the negative reviews were absolutely proved wrong on our visit! ||||Maggie was absolutely brilliant in the lead up, responding to our many questions and giving us advice about local pubs, walks, and caterers. She was also super relaxed about arrival and departure times which was appreciated as we had big plans to decorate, and we knew our clear up might take us a little while. ||||The downstairs space is huge, and perfectly suited to a large group. We happily sat 15 of us around the long table, and there was plenty of room for dancing and games later in the evening too! The outside spaces are absolutely stunning, and we were very lucky with the weather so we sat outside on the grass in the afternoon. ||||The wonderful catering company Maggie recommended, Bangers and Balls, came and made us a spectacular dinner at the bunk barn which made the whole thing so relaxing, and the enormous bunk room upstairs was ideal for overnight. We paid a little extra for sheets to be provided which was great as we didn't need to bring sleeping bags with us. The bathrooms are basic but fine, especially if only staying for a short time. ||||In summary, the warm welcome, huge bunk barn, bargain prices, superb local advice and relaxed attitude all combined to make this a PERFECT hen do venue, and I know everyone who was there for the weekend agreed with me! Thank you!

We have just returned from a very relaxing two night stay at Brenley Farm, where four of us including two children stayed in ‘Toms room’. We were met by Maggie who was friendly and welcoming and showed us to our room. The room is very spacious and homely and has beautiful views across the gardens. We had tea/coffee making facilities in the room and fresh milk and water in the fridge on the landing which was replaced as needed. There were individually packaged biscuits in the room and also home made cake which was delicious and much appreciated. We all slept well as it was so peaceful. The breakfasts were excellent, with lots of choice, also very well organised as you pre order the night before. We enjoyed fresh seasonal fruit, followed by a cooked breakfast using local products-we didn’t need any lunch either day!||The farmhouse is an old building which is an obviously much loved family home, with all the quirks you would expect, and that is part of its charm.||We definitely plan to return again, and would have no hesitation in recommending Brenley Farm to others.

Maggie was a lovely host who made us feel really comfortable. She went out of her way to help us. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and cooked to perfection. The farm was really peaceful and we able to wander round at our leisure. It was great to meet the lovely friendly dogs. It was perfection. Thank you Maggie and Nigel.

We had 2 spacious, lovely decorated rooms with comfortable beds.
A good selection for breakfast ranging from fresh fruits to freshly squeezed juices to cereals to cooked items.
Conveniently located for our last stop before taking the train back - only a short drive to Canterbury for sightseeing, Elmley National Nature Reserve for bird watching and Ebbsfleet International to catch a train.

We stayed at Brenley Farm having found them in Farmstay and noted that they were graded 4 star silver by Visit England. Whilst we are now retired, we have offered 4 star Visit Wales graded B & B and self catering accommodation for in excess of twenty years and consider that we have a good understanding of what our expectations should be. Unfortunately our experience at Brenley Farm has destroyed any faith we had in relying on VE accolades, which is a shame as they are other operators who care passionately about the services they offer. We spent a total of 16 nights staying at 4 different establishments, two being excellent and would highly recommend. I can understand why readers having read my review would question why we stayed? We are in our seventies and not in the best of health, we had paid a substantial deposit and to avoid the stress of looking for an alternative last minute during a busy period in August we decided to grin and bear it!.||We spent 6 nights at Brenley Farm in Grannies Room and found the macerator WC was situated in a cupboard alongside the bed and sometimes needed to be flushed more than once after use. It clearly had not been serviced for sometime, if ever! Obviously there was no external window and an inadequate fan, so the smell was very unpleasant to say the least and felt unhygienic. We felt that this would have been unacceptable in a public toilet let alone in a B & B room where the charge per night was £95 for a one night stay! The shower was situated in another cupboard on the opposite side. The shower door was difficult to open and close and in my husband's opinion in danger of falling off! The thermostat controlling the water temperature was faulty when set at the highest level. The wash hand basin was situated freestanding within the bedroom, the hot water tap produced at max a trickle of water and the waste was partially blocked. Whilst in principle I would agree that any complaints should be made known to the owner at the time we did not complain about the WC and shower and it was obvious these problems could not be quickly resolved. We did mention the partial blockage of the basin waste which Mrs Berry denied any knowledge of but said she would look into, it remained partially blocked for the remaining nights of our stay, so what was the point in complaining?||On the top of the wardrobe were old hats and boxes covered in dust! On the wall of the landing area between the top of the stairs and Grannies Room was a display of approx 20 old photographs of what I'm guessing were Mr Berries's ancestors, one being a large image of a very stern looking 'Grannie'. I did not find it quaint I felt we were staying in a museum!||I could go on- no welcome cake, biscuits provided in a tin unwrapped were stale, breakfast o.k. but nothing to write home about considering they boast a 'Breakfast Award'. Towels were to be changed after 3 nights, only bath towels changed-not hand ones. We did not meet Mr Berry who obviously had no desire to meet us although we watched him walking the dog while we were having breakfast. Having read other reviews I can understand why several mention that they felt he was not comfortable in sharing parts of his home while he hid in their private section. ||Positives- Good sized room and comfy easy chairs and bed, bedroom decor tasteful.Location peaceful.
