"Fab family bakery that has a small range of freshly baked cakes, bread and biscuits. Product sizes are large and you feel that you are eating them straight from the oven. Hot drinks also offered. We had sausage rolls (large), bread pudding (massive), coffee and hot chocolate. Yummy"

Bought almond croissants, was given one that looked older and served from the counter and a SMALLER one from out the back, which was put in a bag without showing me, so I didn't know how much smaller it was to the one on on display. Cost over £6, but tasted far INFERIOR to Sainsbury's which are TWO for around £2.50. Not impressed with being loyal to our local baker.

Delayed review.
Visited a few months ago on a impromptu stop.
Lovely gluten free muffins.
Nice coffee and sausage roll.
Lady was very patient with me as I was indecisive and had a under the weather child.

I Don’t go into this bakery very often, and I won’t be going at all now. Picked up a 1 ham and cheese toastie and 1 cake.

The lady ask me if I wanted it toasted I said yes and then continued to pay. I stood outside waiting and the lady told me “oh you should have got a drink and got a meal deal” I replied “no I’m alright”

she then said “oh well you look like you know all about the meal deal” which I can only imagine was a poor attempt at a joke but frankly I just thought it was incredibly rude and a strange thing to say.

To add insult to injury when I was eating my toastie which i obviously know all about, there was a clothing thread melted into the outer bread

Coffee was a grey colour, had to complain, don't know what cheap coffee is used,a basic Americano, how can it be so awful. Sausages used are so ghastly, they are filled with so much bread ugh
Where is the non existent pork?
Tried the almond croissant, it hadn't been cooked properly, soggy limp pastry
I have visited many times in the past month keep hoping things will improve but alas not to be

Ignore all the whiney negative reviews. Coughlans is a hidden gem, so many gorgeous treats, tonnes of vegan options and incredibly friendly service. Perfect 👌.

Went in asking to purchase the "meal deal" which includes a toasted sandwich, drink, and "free" donut or bread pudding. Ordered a meal deal with the server and had them start toasting the sandwich and packing a pasty on the side.

Then at the point of payment, the server suddenly says that they don't have any of the sweet items available. I ask if she would be replacing the item or if I could pay the extra to receive something else (like one of the many various biscuits sitting on the counter). Was told no, there was nothing they could do and I simply couldn't receive the meal deal which was the explicit (multiple times stated) basis of the entire order from the start. We were told we could pay the same, and receive less than was advertised.

That's disappointingly poor service, which tarnished my perception of the food I had ordered essentially based on false pretenses. The Tuna Melt sandwich was adequate if uninspired, and the pasty had nice flaky pastry but pretty low quality filling.

Had I received the meal deal as explicitly requested throughout the transaction, I probably have accepted the average food and said nothing (left no review). But as it stands, the poor service has now left me inclined to also comment on the very average food.

Go to Gregg's or even a Shell service station instead. At least your expectations will be appropriately tempered...

Lovely surroundings for okay food and coffee and most importantly they now have brown sugar!!
Some of the younger cashiers show little interest or care in their customer service, quite off putting, so much easier if they just let me add my sugar and stir it, it is never stirred well enough, sometimes they haven't even added the sugar, had to return to ask and as the young girl was busy and stressed it seemed like I was bothering her.
