We were in the area as we were viewing our son’s wedding venue. What a fabulous place. Kelly and David were fantastic hosts. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable, every detail was thought of including some delicious cake on our arrival. We were lucky enough to have a wonderful breakfast in the garden which was the best. Thank you both for a lovely stay. Justine and Mark Church.

Such a welcoming stay with Kelly and David! The rooms were well equipped and very comfortable. The cake on arrival was delicious - thank you! The breakfast spread was brilliant and obvious so much thought and care has gone into everything they do. Location wise, it’s beautiful! Quiet and serene!

We initially booked our stay at The Chestnuts Country House Boutique B&B due to its' proximity to Eden Hall Day Spa. After a relaxing day at the Spa, I was very pleased with the short drive to Alverton, and by how easy the B&B was to find. Our first impressions, before even stepping foot out of the car, was what a stunning property! Not only is the house beautiful, but the surrounding gardens were incredibly charming, it felt like somewhere you could relax whilst enjoying the lovely views. We were greeted warmly by Kelly, who could not have been more helpful. She made us feel welcome and as she showed us to our room, she explained the breakfast routine for the following day, so we knew what to expect. The room we stayed in, was absolutely wonderful. You could immediately feel and see the high standards the room had been designed to. The furnishings and decor was next level, and the tea and coffee facilities were such a pleasant surprise (a tea pot and proper China cups/saucers was especially one of my wife's favourite things!). And don't even get get us started on the homemade Victoria Sponge which we devoured before we unpacked. The room was so comfortable and relaxing to spend time in, we almost regretted having to leave for a few hours for an evening meal. As many of the other reviews have stated, the absolute pinnacle of our stay, was breakfast the next morning. David greeted us at the door, and was a friendly and engaging host. My wife and I were blown away by, not only the array of foods offered for breakfast, but by the fact that most of it (if not all) was homemade by Kelly. David was very informative about the produce used, whether it was food they had grown/produced themselves or ingredients that had been sourced locally. We couldn't believe the degree to which Kelly/David had gone to, for the B&B breakfast, this was seriously some of the best food we have eaten. So pleased we found this little gem, thoroughly delighted with our stay and will be recommending to all our friends and family.

We were invited to a wonderful birthday celebration at the Chestnuts in their fabulous new marquee. It didn’t end there, we stayed the night in the stable, which was super comfy and luxurious. The breakfast was one of the best, we have ever had. You need to book and stay to appreciate how good it is.

A gorgeous bed and breakfast. Kelly and David made us feel most welcome. The room was beautiful with a large comfy bed. The homemade treats went down very well too! Breakfast was delicious with many homemade offerings in a stunning dining room. I chose to stay here based on the many excellent reviews which proved very reliable. We couldn’t recommend Chestnuts enough.

Fabulous stay came to celebrate our Friends 60th. BBQ Food amazing and everyone so helpful. Very comfortable rooms and the Breakfast is all homemade from the bread and jams to the granola. If you are looking for a party venue near Newark look no further the house is surrounded by beautiful gardens!

We stayed three nights for a wedding and wished it had been longer. The grounds are spectacular, the rooms are spacious and maintained to a high standard. After a good night's sleep, the breakfast is truly sublime. When we can think of an excuse to visit the area again, we will certainly be staying here.

A little bit of peace and tranquility from a busy London life.
My second stay and need to find an excuse to travel north for business to visit again.
It’s an absolute gem, both rooms that I have stayed in have been spotlessly clean, beautiful decor, gorgeous yummy extras left for you in your room, lovely outside space to sit or you can have a stroll through the land to see the animals/woods and don’t get me started on the breakfast.
3 Courses !! Served by the welcoming & informative David with his knowledge of all Kelly’s homemade Breads, Jams, Yogurt etc. Locally sourced ingredients, Kelly has thought of all the little touches to make your stay special.
I will be back without a doubt but have concerns they will be getting booked up when word gets out how good the chestnuts is.
