What a fabulous little find. Stayed with a friend after our gin train experience with the wensleydale spirit company and heritage railway. Our room, directly above the bar, was immaculate, tastefully decorated, comfy beds, spare pillows, tea/coffee making facilities, we couldn't have asked for anything better. The hosts are SO friendly, the breakfast was wonderful... if there was a 6* option, we'd have picked it πŸ˜‰

Lovely pub in a small town in north Yorkshire. If your looking for places to stay here you already know about the walks and beautiful countryside and this little gem of a pub sits right in the middle, great range of beers and full of friendly locals and travellers alike. The hosts can't do enough for you and just generally a great place to be and stay... Rooms are clean and tidy and modern and well turned out. You get what you pay for and possible look a little steep to start but are about the going rate. Would deffo stay again πŸ™‚

Stayed here whist visiting friends. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble. The room was beautiful, from the decor, the luxurious beds and bedding, the gorgeous ensuite and I personally loved the carpet! Look forward to staying here again in the future. Thankyou Michelle, Pete and your lively staff!

We had a very pleasant lunch in their little sunlit courtyard. Lovely service, and a prompt and free replacement of my wife's beer when she tipped it over the table.

We went here for lunch on the basis of a recommendation. It is located on a busy Road junction, so if you plan to sit and watch the world go by, expect it to be in a truck or van driving past the window.
We were the only people (apart from the staff) who were present.
The woman behind the bar was friendly and hospitable enough but the decor inside was dated and the stools were low and uncomfortable.
The food was cheap and unfortunately it lived down to expectations when it appeared: it was standard reheated dishes with little flavour, microwaved until it was volcanic, and with little sustenance. The vegetable lasagne, for example, was a lot of sauce with cheese on top, without much in the way of pasta or vegetables and little flavour.
Overall, disappointing and not really somewhere we will return to.

Couldn't fault the hotel or staff. Had a dog friendly room on the ground floor. Large with a walk in shower, although the cream carpets had us worried with a muddy dog - luckily he hade no mess. Nice lobby where you could leave your muddy boots, and there was fresh cake to be eaten every day!|| Great bar, with Black Sheep and Theakstons ales. Friendly staff AND locals - my wife has on first name terms with most of them after 2 days. Bonus also of a real fire AND great Christmas decorations.|| Breakfast was served in the restaurant and was a choice of a Full Yorkshire, or sourdough toast with various toppings. Couldn't fault either.|| Only letdown was the food in the restaurant during the evening. Small choice, and small portions (admittedly the Sunday lunch was large). We also made the mistake of eating on a Sunday evening, and the choice was only a full Sunday dinner (good choice of meats), or a burger/fish pie/steak pie, (plus one vegetarian choice). Who wants Sunday lunch at 7pm!!!! Needs a more extensive menu to really call itself a restaurant.
