Getting to the farm is well worth the extra walking if you are doing the coast to coast. This B&B is more than just accommodation. The farm is beautiful, the gardens are gorgeous. The lounge area is the perfect setting for afternoon tea (and cake) whilst enjoying the views of the farm and paging through books. It was raining when we were there and we were rewarded with the most beautiful rainbow over the farmhouse. ||The en-suite room was huge with a very comfortable bed! The bathroom with shower and bath was fabulous! ||Ian and Jane treated us to a wonderful dinner also catering for our vegetarian needs. Breakfast was amazing too with raspberries from the farm. Thank you for the Bubbly at breakfast to celebrate our friends' anniversary. We just felt pampered the entire time that we were there. ||I highly recommend Rawcar Farm as a B&B for travellers in the area as well as for walkers doing the coast to coast.

Rawcar Farm B & B has claims to being the best B & B we stayed at during our recent walk across England (and we stayed at many excellent B & Bs). Indeed, my husband remarked that it had many of the characteristics of a luxury retreat. The ensuite rooms (and the common sitting and dining areas) are beautifully furnished. The surroundings are lovely. The lounge is a perfect room to spend the afternoon reading and/or (on a clear day) to watch the lights of Richmond come on. In addition, Ian and Jane are thoughtful and attentive hosts. Tea is an elegant affair--I am still lusting after Jane's sponge cake-- and dinner and breakfast (with a fruit salad that compared favorably to a good California fruit salad) and our sack lunches were all delicious.||||Many coast to coasters choose to rush through the Vale of Mowbray by walking the 23 miles from Richmond to Ingleby Cross in a single day. I must admit that I am not as averse to walking along barley fields and pastures as some, including Wainwright. Even so, I think that there is much to be said for breaking the walk at Raw Car Farm (a little before Danby Wiske) and then continuing on to Osmotherley (with a possible side trip to Mount Grace Priory) the next day. First of all, Rawcar Farm is a pleasurable destination in its own right, and only a short walk off the Coast to Coast. Secondly, even Wainwright thought that it might be a good idea to break the walk around the 16-mile point.

We booked Rawcar Farm as a stop during our recent C2C walk. Having read reviews we thought it would be a bit of luxury and peace and quiet. We were certainly not disappointed. We were made very welcome when we arrived by Jane and Ian's Labrador puppy Harry whilst we waited for Jane to come back from collecting the eggs!||To say that Rawcar was like an oasis is an understatement. I the end because of timing we were there for 17 hours and left refreshed and ready to go again. ||Our room was beautifully furnished, comfortable and quite large - as was the bathroom. We had windows looking out over the garden, farm and beyond - so relaxing that we left the curtains open all night.||We were lucky to be the only guests that night and so had the guest lounge with its panoramic views and dining room to ourselves - luxury. ||My husband was able to play the clavinova for a couple of hours before dinner whilst I sat and read with Clio the cat asleep on my knee.||The food - dinner, breakfast and packed lunch - fantastic.||Jane and Ian were both friendly and welcoming.||If you go there, go and wander around Jane's incredible cottage/walled garden - it is a definite labour of love.

Stayed here with friends for one night on the C2C fully agree with previous reviewers and loved everything about this place. it's spacious, light, comfortable and quiet as well as being beautifully decorated . The large light filled lounge with fabulous views was a gorgeous spot to curl up with home cooked cake and a large pot of tea after a long walk. Dinner cooked by Jane was delicious as was breakfast he next day. This is a terrific place to stay as it brightens the least exciting 2 days of the C2C and is well worth the detour if your C2C takes you slightly further south across fields and not directly past the entrance to the farm as we did. If you are booked here it may be worthwhile contacting Ian and Jane re dinner beforehand and to clarify directions . Highly recommended! Despite this being an organic beef farm Jane produced a lovely vegetarian meal for us.

We stayed at Rawcar Farm while doing the Coast to Coast walk. Arrived early (12 .30 pm) in steady rain as we were trying to beat it (the rain that is!). Luckily Jane was in and welcomed us with open arms, helping us with soaking boots and other paraphernalia. Our room was huge, with a welcoming bathtub and lovely views. By evening the rain stopped and blue skies appeared. Dinner was fabulous, cooked by Jane and served by Ian (their own Dexter beef). Breakfast was wonderful, and a sunny start to our next walk. We watched Jane hand feed her orphan lambs and calves before heading off on our next section of the walk. A wonderful stay. Thoroughly recommended.

We arrived early cold and wet and were escorted to our huge room. A bath for me and a shower for my husband. Wonderful soaps and towels. Made the tough walk on the C2C that day worth the effort. We had tea and soon after a beautiful steak dinner loving made. The best dinner on our C2C journey. ||The house is a treasure trove of art objects and books. Would need at lease a couple of days to appreciate. We felt very lucky to enjoy this farm and meet these people.

Greeted warmly by Ian and affectionately by Henry the dog, we were so pleased to see the gorgeous rooms, beautiful gardens and extensive farm and have a cup of tea and a bite of cake. Jane, we missed your dinner and we'll be back as everyone has been raving about it. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and perfect to start us on our route. We arrived in time to wander about and meet the animals before being chauffeured to our dinner at the local pub in the village.

Well worth the extra walking off the Coast to Coast to stay here. Huge rooms, a large wheelhouse lounge and lovely dining room. Flowers in your room and all the little details looked after. Gourmet supper of their own Dexter Beef and fresh garden vegetables perfectly cooked. Next day we tried to reduce our calories & only ordered one lunch - still more than enough for two!
