Recently had our wedding at Deighton Lodge and it was the best day ever! The venue itself, the barn, the accommodation, the outside space were just excellent. From the day we had a viewing with Sally we booked there and then as we just knew we had to get married here. Sally has been excellent from day one and made us feel like family. Nothing was to much trouble at all and sally was always at hand to answer any questions we had. Having a blank canvas meant we could plan our festival themed wedding exactly how we wanted. All of our guests commented on what an amazing venue it was and couldn't believe how close to York centre it was. We had 22 friends stay with us in the accommodation who again thought the accommodation and social aspect of it was amazing. Our suppliers also commented on the amazing venue choice. Towards the wedding we had angie to support with coordinating the day and contacting all our suppliers which took the pressure off us. On the day Sally and angie were on hand to ensure the day ran smoothly from start to finish without making it feel like they were staff and blending in with our guests. Highly recommend Deighton lodge as a wedding venue, you will not be disappointed.

Had the most wonderful stay at Deighton lodge for my hen do weekend - the facilities and space were incredible for a large group of over 20 of us. The owners were super communicative and have really thought of everything that we could’ve needed - the built in kitchen speakers were a real plus!

Couldn’t have asked for a better place to hold my hen and I would recommend this to anyone planning theirs!

What a beautiful house and gardens, we had an amazing weekend for my daughter’s Hen Party. Everything you need to know! Plenty of seating for everyone both inside and out. We had beautiful weather but still plenty of room if it’s not so good. Great communication from Carla .

From the second we walked in to veiw deighton lodge we fell in love with the place. We chatted with Sally, and she was really warm and made us feel comfortable immediately. We discussed some vague ideas we had and everything was easily accommodated and seemed like no problem. We had to have our wedding here! We looked at each other and prayed it was within our budget. We'd looked at similar venues in our area and we were pleasantly surprised when discussing pricing. The fact the farm house accommodation wasn't an extra like some venues was a huge bonus.|This is a dry venue so everything was supplied by us. This proveded us with the ultimate flexibility and wasn't tied to a list of affiliated suppliers like some venues. Sally had a list of previously used suppliers that had supplied the venue. |Sally kept touching in with us regularly which was nice. She even got in touch to say our caterer (the manchester bbq company) had done an event there and he was brilliant. Oh she wasn't wrong, look them up!|We popped in for repeat viewings as the date neared just for some spacial awareness and to let our two girls have a look around, this was never an issue and Sally was always pleased to see us and had the kettle on.|About a month out we met with Angie, the wedding coordinator. Went through suppliers and timings. She was very good, contacting everyone and double checking everything. |We were allowed access to the barn to set up from the Thursday, for our wedding on the Sunday(25/5/25).|Having such early access was such a weight off. It gave us the opportunity to get the tables and chairs in early and set up. It was so relaxed that we didn't have to rush. |Sally was there to greet us, again with the kettle on. Because we'd got there so early some maintenance were going on. Tasha, was on the paint brushes painting some walls. It turns out she's multi talented and does a bit of everything. We all got chatting away and I felt like id know tasha my whole life. I later met her little boy and mum. |We set the tables ready for the evening, took photos then pulled them into the eaves behind removable drapes and set up the ceremony space. We sent the photos to Angie so they could be put back tbe same way after the ceromony. We had the option to marry outside on the beautiful lawn area but we opted for indoors and not to chance the weather. |Our party arrived on Saturday to stay overnight, everyone was blown away by the farm house and rooms. Everything perfect for the theme of the house. We had a party of 22 stay over, and never once did we feel on top of each other, there is so much space. The room configuration is a bit awkward, these might work for families of different sizes. Our friends were flexible and didn't mind sharing so it was a non issue for us.|On the morning of the wedding the bridal party pitched into the bridal suite. Such a great space, and beautiful. Sally and Angie we're floating around ready to welcome suppliers and later wedding guest. The day was incredible and ran seamlessly. Sally and Angie were like our wedding guests but subtly conducted the whole day. Every single guest, evening and daytime commented about how incredible the venue was. |Also a mention for the toilets, so unique, beautiful and perfectly in keeping with the barn. The disabled made a perfect bridal toilet as it was huge. |Our only negative feedback about our day was probably the bar. I must stress the bar isn't operated or owned by deighton lodge, but a separate company. We felt the bar didn't have the same feel as deighton, although polite and professional they didn't seem to have the same relaxed vibe the deightion staff had. We felt the drinks were expensive too having gone up 20% since we booked. |They did however stock the bar with everything we asked but not having a draft cider on was disappointing to the bride.|The day after our wedding they clean up began. We took down our decorations and restored everything to near how we found it.|Unfortunately Sally had to contact us to say one of our party had damaged a door frame and the rug and chair one of the kids threw up on was worse than we thought. |They were superb with this and gave us the opportunity to get our own tradesmen in to do a repair and I headed down with a carpet cleaner for the rug and chair. |Again I got chatting with tasha. And the house cleaner, both thanked us for the way we'd left everything |Door frame repaired and rug cleaned. Not many places would give you the opportunity to put these things right and would take your deposit in a heartbeat. |We arrived as strangers and left as family. |To summarise, we loved everything about the venue, the flexibility and relaxed approach suited us perfectly and was the biggest pull. But Sally, Angie and Tasha made it feel extra special. |We cannot recommend this place enough, we might even attend their xmas party! |Thank you to everyone at deighton, love,|Mr and Mrs Ireland

I hired the lodge for exclusive use for my 50th birthday celebration and it was ideal. The communal areas are decorated beautifully, more than enough space for all guests to eat, relax, get together communally or have their own space. The bedrooms are fab too, nice bathrooms, good quality linens and tea / coffee in each room. All of my 19 guests loved it!

Very, very clean!! The house itself was great just disappointed in the amenities. The hot tub was not up and running, the outdoor patio is not covered like the photos make it seem, the bathroom window latch was broken off so you’re not able to close the window so it’s absolutely freezing in there at night, the claw foot tub only has an option for the shower head to be on so it’s not an actual soaking tub. Overall a nice stay and would return, just feel a bit mislead from the photos and amenities listed on the site.

We felt deeply sorry for the bride and groom on what should have been their special day. While the ceremony itself was excellent and the venue undeniably beautiful, there were significant issues with the electrics that marred the evening.

Throughout the event, the lights in the venue flickered constantly, with some remaining completely off. Although the first dance was thankfully unaffected, the music cut out entirely after that song and was not restored for the rest of the night.

Unfortunately, the staff were unhelpful and showed little urgency to address the situation. Instead of stepping in to resolve the problem, they appeared disengaged, spending most of their time seated by the bar on their phones. This left the wedding guests scrambling to find solutions, such as using a portable speaker, fetching cables from home, or even setting up a TV to log into Spotify.

It wasn’t just the music and lighting affected; the hand dryers also worked sporadically, cutting out entirely later in the evening. It seemed like a venue-wide electrical fault, which significantly detracted from the experience.

For a wedding venue, where couples invest significant time and money to create lasting memories, this was a major letdown. These issues likely spoiled what should have been a joyous and seamless celebration for the couple and their guests.
