A clean and comfortable guest house run by a lovely couple. We stayed in the large family room for 3 nights. Yes it could do with some TLC, however you won’t find anywhere else so close to the city centre for this price. The room was large, clean beds and clean towels and an ensuite bathroom , there are some toiletries to use if needed, the stairs are quite steep as it’s a traditional home. There’s no drink facilities in the room but you are free to use the shared kitchen to make drinks and store food, the host baked us some lovely sweet treats too. This is not a bed and breakfast, however there are numerous places to buy breakfast nearby from a freshly baked croissant at the end if the road, a posh breakfast about 5 minutes walk or a McDonald’s in the city centre. The street is very quiet and only a 10 minute walk to the Minster. You are able to park outside to unload the car but must move it after 10 minutes. We parked in Marygate car park which is only about a 2 minute walk, it’s quite expensive though, there is free on road parking further away. We would stay here if we visit York again.

Beautiful period property, very clean, rooms are very spacious. Vas is the friendliest Man and goes above and beyond for all guests. I would highly recommend this lovely guest house. About 10 mins walk into the main center of York so perfect location.

Morning. Thank you for replying. Let me just say he lied in all of his reply. We was very respectful at all times. We wasn’t loud. And there was no party. There was no drink. We didn’t even have a glass of water there let alone anything else. We did get there early because my mom who is 79 in November needed to go to the toilet so we phoned him up and he said yes come in. The food which we had was bacon sausage eggs bread butter because he said we could make a cooked breakfast there the next morning which we couldn’t do so that food was never taken out the bag. The balloons we had two helium balloons on weights which didn’t go on any walls they just went on the floor. We didn’t even stay in there we put our bags in then after about 15/20 mins we went out. To which he followed us down the road. We came back about 9.30pm we all went straight to bed then got up and went straight away. We was out there before 10 o clock. Which we can prove. No drink or anything. We left all of our rooms tidy. If fact we even emptied the bins into a white bag and tied it up and put it out the front for the dustbin man. My mom said bye and he just ignored her. He was so rude and intimidating. We never threw any towels around either. We have never felt so scared and uncomfortable ever. This man is lying in what he said. Also we booked through booking.com shouldn’t you have some accountability for a business that you promote. You need to go there and see for yourself. Look at the reviews. Lots are good which to me they are made up but carry on looking and you will definitely see the genuine ones. The house should be taken off booking.com. Owner was enthusiastic and friendly. Gave good advice and some history of York.
Located in a quiet neighborhood so had a very good rest from a day's walking around.
Room had smart TV on wall to fall asleep to, TV remote needed new batteries and the owner's partner couldn't apologise enough and promptly changed them, It was an extremely cute interaction.
Bed sheets and towels couldn't have smelled any nicer.

Great location. Room was small and linen a bit old but clean. There was no rush to leave the next day as Vas didn’t have other guests arriving. You get what you pay for and even though it’s not flash, it’s definitely value for money. Perfect location to walk all around the city centre.

My friend and I stayed at Vas House last weekend. We had a clean, tidy family room with en suite shower, Netflix which was a bonus.||||Vas kindly contacted me in the morning to say our room was ready and we could check in earlier, to save us carrying our cases around. We were also offered a later check out, as our room wasn't booked the following day. Nice to come somewhere and have a lie in for a change! ||||The guest house is in a great location, in a quiet street, not far from the city centre. Vas showed us a short cut, which meant a quicker walk to the train station the next day.||||There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room itself unfortunately, but you are welcome to use the kitchen downstairs. I popped down for cups of tea the next morning and was also offered two big slices of orange cake freshly baked that morning! Delicious :)||||Vas House is a lovely little guest house, we hope to come back again soon.

Value for money. Fantastic location, only five minutes from the railway station & city centre. The host went the extra mile to make my stay truly exceptional. Overall, I would highly recommend this guest house to anyone looking for a cozy and comfortable place to stay.

Stayed here 27th July & for 2 nights with 2 friends and found the hosts really friendly and I must also add very inexpensive for the location (10 mins from the centre) Vas and Lucy were really helpful and accomadating.| The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and tidy.| We would've liked tea/coffee making facilities in our room but that is only a small criticism.| If you are visiting York I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Vas York house for your accommodation.|
