Gordon was very welcoming and really made us feel relaxed. The room itself was clean and a great size with a seating area, sky tv & an en-suite. Location was about about a 20-30 walk, you could go next to the river too, into the city. Cannot fault the place, would highly recommend & would definitely stay again, great value for money.

Check in was easy and a parking space for each room. The room was a bit dated but clean and spacious. Bed and pillows comfy and clean. Tea and coffee available with plenty so you don’t run out. Shower a bit slow but does the job. Bit noisy from room upstairs but take ear plugs you’re fine. 30 minutes walk into centre with pubs along the way if you need a stop, bus stop opposite if you need public transport. All in all pretty good 2 night stay and I would come back, and I’m fussy!

Stayed for one night to explore York with my family. We were met on arrival by the friendly and helpful owner Gordon. We were allocated room 8 upstairs which is a large family room which more than met our requirements. The room itself was clean and tidy with ample tea/coffee making facilities available as well as toiletries supplied in the bathroom. Breakfast is continental and although I would have enjoyed a cooked breakfast the choices on offer were very good ie. Cereal, toast, crumpets (Crumpets!great choice!) Croissants and yoghurt as well as tea and coffee. Overall our stay was comfortable and enjoyable, the owner was very helpful and made us all feel welcome I would be happy to stay again.

We stayed for one night and found it to be comfortable and very clean. Our room was room 6 which was big and spacious with shower/bathroom and on the first floor. Gordon was very helpful and friendly and didn't have a problem with our little dog. Breakfast was continental but plentiful, we had lots of crumpets and jammy toast. The only thing I would advise is to take earplugs as the walls are quite thin so we could hear other rooms talking and snoring all night but there is nothing Moorland House can do about that! We enjoyed the place and the service and it was also easy to walk to from central York as it's just one long road.

Off road parking is handy . Rooms a little old fashioned and dated but clean . Shower worked well but bed wasnt the best . Good size but mattress was old spring type . Bit of a hike to the city centre but easy access via roads to and from York

Stayed for 3 nights. You get what you pay for. It’s nice to just feel the freedom and to not be bugged during your stay. It is outdated but it’s comfortable so it didn’t bother me. Still got a tv and everything you may need. The distance to the centre is walkable but we did get a taxi a few times as after walking around the centre it can feel quite a long walk. I would also say it’s too long for children to walk it but a lovely walk for adults.

We stayed here recently, 3rd -6th Sept and couldn't really fault it, room was very clean and provided us with all we required, breakfast continental style had a wide variety of choices and the owner was very helpful, friendly and obliging, off road parking also was a real bonus. Nice walk into York by crossing the main road and walking down a side street to the river and strolling along the riverside path which takes about 20 minutes. Would be very happy to stay here again

We stayed at Moorland house for 2 nights 23-25 July 2021. It was clean, well equipped and the perfect location. centrally located between the city centre and the race course.. each were no more than a 20 minute walk away. Gordon was really helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly be staying here again.
