My wife and I stayed for a night on 14 May and enjoyed every aspect of our trip. We were very well taken care of by the lovely lady who greeted us at reception and also served our tasty breakfast the next day. She took great care in looking after all of the guests. ||Ample parking is available at the rear of Ascot House which was hugely helpful. ||Ascot House was spotlessly clean, and with beautiful Victorian original features. Our room was spacious with a superb large shower, and the bed was comfortable. We found the walk to the historic centre of the city to be short enough to not require a taxi, and we were given a helpful recommended route upon checking in. ||We had a lovely stay at Ascot House and it’s the ideal place to base yourself at when visiting York. Highly recommended.

We had a delightful stay at the Ascot House in York! The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The beds were very comfortable. The towels were the best hotel towels I have ever encountered! Breakfast had a lot of options - including good vegetarian options - and was very good! The guest lounge was very pleasant and had plenty of room.

Amazing place to stay.|Absolutely ticked every box and I’ve stayed in some places.|My best in York ever. Great for our little dog as park steps away. Short walk into centre.|Staff are so kind and welcoming.|Breakfast was utterly fabulous. Red hot and fresh as. Clearly all high quality.|I’m fussy with eggs and asked for my fried egg to be flipped (hate it cremated), came perfectly cooked.|Loads of choice too on buffet.|Oh and adequate parking.|The building itself is beautiful.|Definitely staying here from now on.

Highly recommend this hotel. Such a beautiful, characterful building and rooms but with the crucial benefit of the modern bathroom with a fab walk-in shower. Every staff member we encountered was first class, and we really got a sense of pride in the service they all provided. We stayed for 4 nights, so I think got a good feel for how the place ran. Breakfast was excellent and they couldn't do enough for us. Parking was ample, and location suited us perfectly; an easy 15 minute walk into the city centre. Would definitely recommend.

Really lovely staff at breakfast . Really cozy and warm atmosphere you almost feel like you’re at home. We took our small dog and he slept like a log . Lovely clean rooms and bed . Big bathroom and tea and coffee in room . The room was a little bit hot but you can open the windows , we was at the top of the house so heat rises . Really good location especially if you have a dog as there is a big park next door that our dog loved running around meeting other dogs. Short walk to the city . There is a co-op opposite should you need anything which came in handy . Breakfast was lovely and really kind staff . The only thing I could say was I would have liked the option to have a latte but that’s just me as a fussy coffee drinker. The coffee they give you is still lovely . And maybe some freshly baked pastries instead of packaged. The lady who checked us in was lovely and welcoming . Really nice place and a warm feel to it . Beautiful building . We would definitely return.

This is a delightful B&B well-placed as a base for exploring York. The old house is delightful, and the rooms are quaint but have totally modernised bathrooms. There's a great lounge on the ground floor for chilling out in. Breakfast is cooked to order. It's only about 10-15 minutes' walk to the centre of York. There's free parking behind the house and a small supermarket directly across the road.

So many hotels are part of chains these days, that you forget how special an independent hotel is. This is a total jewel; lovely building with amazing stained glass; a really cosy lounge; the rooms were individual and historic, but also absolutely spotless with lovely high spec. bathrooms and smashingly soft towels. They welcome dogs, which is good for us, and June on the Reception is very welcoming.

Another great stay at Ascot House. The bedrooms are lovely, comfy beds, modern bathrooms and all spotless. The staff are super friendly and breakfast is delicious. A 15 minute walk into the centre of York, perfect location for us. Definitely recommend.
