I stayed with my disabled partner so I am reviewing with disabled facilities in mind. ||GOOD POINTS:|- Average sized bedroom with "wet room" style walk-in shower. This served my partner well. |- Well laid out hotel, crisp and efficient. Easy to negotiate wheelchair along corridors.|- Adequate parking. We managed to park at the front of the hotel each day, minimising travel of wheelchair between car and hotel. However there is much more parking space around the back of the hotel.|Good leisure facilities. Large swimming pool with good support facilities including swimming outfit spin dryer. |Pleasant view from bar and restaurang across attractive garden to racecourse in the distance. ||COULD BE BETTER:|Meals in restaurant well prepared but overall choice only average. ||SUMMARY: This hotel has an official four-star rating, which I would happily endorse and we would consider staying again if we returned to this area. Its good disabled facilities are a strong point in its favour.

Hotel reception is lovely and staff friendly.

Got to my room though and not very impressed unfortunately. It was difficult to find, as not enough signs to tell you where to go.

Door sticking but not a big issue. But the room is old and outdated. Bathroom is clean but not well equipped. Plenty enough space for a shower, but decided on a small bath with poor water pressure instead.

The room has 1 big problem though, which is a huge pet hate of mine for hotels, no plug socket next to the bed. Its such a simple thing, and most hotels now have it, but this one uses special plugs even for the lights so you can't use them.

Also always a concern when there's a fan, radiator and separate electric radiator in the room, in summer. Plus an extremely thick duvet (although would be lovely in winter!).

Overall would not recommend and will not be returning again.

I and my family stayed in this lovely hotel for a night. Reception and all staff were very friendly and hospitable. Buffet breakfast was rich and delicious. Pool is nice but a little bit small. It is also possible to purchase Speedo swimwear with a nice price from the pool desk. General hotel location and hotel garden are also fantastic. I recommend this lovely hotel.

Really enjoyed our one night stay here in May half term. Was hoping for a nice view but ended up with one of the car park 🤣||Bed was massive and incredibly comfortable. Pillows were awful though, very thin and no support whatsoever. ||Bathroom was OK, decent shower. Looked like it had been refurbished fairly recently, apart from the floor, which was very old fashioned. ||Cupboard which clearly used to have a fridge, no longer has the fridge which was a shame. Massive TV. Room was impeccably clean. ||Found it to be quite noisy at night. Could hear everything that was going on in all of the adjoining rooms. ||Breakfast was amazing! Fantastic selection and really delicious. Would come back just for that to be honest. ||Great location for York. Thought it was a bit overpriced for what it was though, especially as parking wasn't included.

What a wonderful hotel . Rooms are spacious & comfortable. Beds have to be the most comfortable ive slept in . The hotel for such a large building was whisper quiet at night & the view from the restaurant and patio area is beautiful looking over York race course and the crown of any hotel are the staff and here is no different so attentive without being over powering…. great hotel we will be back

Upon arrival, the check-in process was satisfactory, and the staff provided a warm and pleasant welcome. However, several issues with the room significantly impacted the overall experience.||The Siemens air circulation unit in my room was non-operational, as it was reportedly switched off, according to staff. Given the warm conditions, this made the room uncomfortably hot. When I inquired about when the system would be restored, the staff were unable to provide a clear timeline, stating only that they were awaiting external technicians. A fan was provided, but it was noisy and circulated warm air, offering little relief. Initially, reception informed me that the fan was sufficient for air circulation, which did not address the issue adequately. After contacting Marriott through the app, a staff member visited my room and confirmed that the air circulation issue affected multiple rooms. I was offered a room change, but was informed it would likely have the same issue. As an alternative, a portable air conditioning unit was provided, which did cool the room but was extremely loud and required an open window for ventilation, exacerbating external traffic noise. This significantly disrupted my sleep throughout my three-night stay.||Additionally, the room had a missing cupboard sliding door, which, while minor, was disappointing. I was also surprised to find no mini fridge in the room, an amenity I would expect in a Marriot Delta, especially as it is commonly found in hotels of a similar or lower standard.||On a positive note, the dining experience was satisfactory. I enjoyed the cast iron burger and ribs during my stay, and I have no complaints about the food quality. The staff were consistently friendly and approachable, which was appreciated.||In conclusion, while the staff’s friendliness and the quality of the food were highlights, the overall experience was overshadowed by the non-functional air circulation system, the noisy air conditioning unit, and the absence of expected amenities such as a mini fridge. These issues detracted from the comfort and value expected from a hotel of this caliber.

Enjoyed the pool here with sauna, steam room, and hot tub. The bathrooms had a full tub rather than a walk in shower which was different and a little outdated. The breakfast buffet was adequate. This hotel is not within walking distance of York city center so that was a bummer but glad they have a pool for entertainment.

After reading some of the reviews, we were pleasantly surprised.|The hotel was clean, staff were polite and friendly. The room itself was nice and had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. The bed was large and quite comfortable.|We walked into York city centre from the hotel (1.5miles) took around 25mins. Taxi back in the evening cost around £8-10.|Breakfast was very good and had a large selection to choose from.|Would definitely stay again if we came back to York.
