We had a fabulous stay. From arrival the team were friendly and welcoming.
Our room was booked through virgin experience days, the process of booking was very straightforward.
On arrival our room was so lovely and cool, we had Prosecco on ice with chocolates and a stunning room.
We had a lovely stay, no noise which I was impressed with as we were by the reception and our room was towards the street.
We had a very comfortable bed and a great nights sleep.
The cocktails in pink were lovely and we had a 10% discount as we were staying.
Love this motel with its quirky design and great location.
I’d definitely come back again.
Thank you impossible motel team!

On arrival the motel looked lovely. The decor inside was very nice and staff very helpful. We stayed for a night in one of the basement rooms. When walking downstairs to the basement we could smell damp but once in the room it was horrendous. You could see damp all over the walls and the baths had brick dust in them. Which made me question if it had even been cleaned properly. We had to leave the extractor fan on all night which created alot of noise, on top of paper thin walls and people walking above. We had a terrible night's sleep so left very early in the morning and was very disappointed. Staying in a room that you could quite clearly see and smelled of mould was not good and to be charged over £200 was just obscene! I think this was the reason why the room only had dimmed lights so you couldnt actually see how bad the mould problem was. The TV also didnt work to top it off. Unfortunately we won't be returning.

We visit York quite often and this time we decided to stay at the Impossible Motel. We opted to stay in the superb room after reading poor reviews of the 'dungeon rooms'. At first, we were very impressed with the decor and style of the reception and the rooms. The bed was large and comfortable. The staff were also very helpful in allowing us to check our bags in early. Those were unfortunately the only positive notes I can bring myself to write. ||Unfortunately we had a couple of issues that you could say are out of the hotels control but have put us off revisiting in future. Firstly, we appreciate that there is a late bar and have read reviews on noise levels. We expected a bit of noise and although we were provided with ear plugs, we did not sleep well. There was some sort of rave going on and the whole room felt like it was vibrating. I did eventually fall asleep but was then met with incosiderate drunks who I heard try to open the door then shout down the hall to eachother about which rooms they were in. On top of this, at around 5am I was woken again by what can only be described as a sewery kind of smell coming from the en-suite. This come and go periodically until we checked out. At the time, I did not think that the concierge would be able to do anything about it so left it until we checked out. I can only think maybe there was a plumbing issue somewhere down the line. ||Lastly, the room could use a couple of repairs. The toilet seat was hanging off and it probably needs a touch up with paint. ||The hotel is very stylish, quirky and the staff are lovely but unfortunately we would not look to return.||Thank you to the staff this morning who listened to our concerns.

Booked this hotel through wowcher - what a deal! paid £40 to upgrade and I was really glad that I did! we had a lovely room, with 4 poster bed and a bottle of prosecco on ice waiting!|hated the bathroom as it was ridiculously small, but they have had to box clever with space because of the size of the rooms. Having said that it was spotless and the shower was really powerful!|Yorkshire tea is provided which was very welcome!|I loved the quirkiness of the hotel, and the staff were lovely and so friendly! ||Location could not be any better, right across from Betty's tea rooms! Because of this it is really noisy first thing on a morning, but in the info you get from the hotel beforehand you had enough warning!||would 100% return to this hotel, we had a wonderful time in York!

Firstly you can't park near the hotel, you have to drag your suitcase through the town and if it's after 6pm and the garden cut through is closed then you have one hell of a walk on your hands. Hotel looks nice and is the decor is lovely. No lift so you have to hump your suitcase up flights of stairs. Staff at reception are very polite and dressed the part. Stayed in the superb room, lovely 4 poster, decorated to a high standard but not much room. Bathroom is tiny and feels like you're going to the toilet in a cupboard. As nice as the room is you'll get absolutely no sleep. Locals are screaming in the streets til 3 am, even on a Sunday night and if it's not the locals other visitors to the hotel will wake you up with their sexual shenanigans at all hours. There's absolutely no sound proofing whatsoever. You will be woken up by beds banging against walls and the sound of others moaning and orgasms. The hotel is lovely but the noise disturbance ruins it in my opinion. For the money you spend you'd expect more to be honest

This quirky motel boasts a fun and playful décor, making it a great choice for couples looking for a lively getaway. Our basement room was a novel experience, offering a glimpse into the building's history and creating a wonderfully intimate atmosphere for a romantic evening.|However, the basement air was noticeably dry and warm. While air conditioning was available, it unfortunately exacerbated the dryness, making it difficult to sleep comfortably. The bed itself wasn't the most comfortable, and we did experience some noise from music above, though it didn't particularly bother us.|The open-plan bathroom, with a half-glass screen separating the toilet and shower from the bed, is certainly conducive to intimate moments. However, the lack of privacy might be a concern for those needing a more discreet experience – thankfully, neither of us required a 'number two' during our stay!|The ambient lighting in the room was warm and seductive, perfect for creating a romantic mood. However, brighter lighting for tasks like dressing or applying makeup was lacking.|While navigating the narrow stairs with our large suitcase wasn't an issue, the absence of a lift might be inconvenient for some guests.|Despite these drawbacks, the motel's prime location right in the heart of York city centre is a significant advantage. If the room itself isn't your top priority, I would consider staying here again or recommending it for its unbeatable central location.

What a fantastic, quirky and fun hotel!|Perfect location for visiting central York, quirky rooms, quirky location, right in the centre of the city.|All the team were absolutely fabulous, nothing was too much trouble, very helpful and someone always available.|Our room was beautiful, had everything you needed for a quick visit to York. Yes the bathroom is unbelievably tiny - but it works. Bed comfy, pillows fluffy, spotlessly clean.|Loved the 'secret' door into the cocktail bare below!|Thank you for a fab stay - we will be back!

I loved the vibe, low lighting, and decor of this place - think Shanghai Bordello meets speakeasy jazz bar with a touch of David Lynch, set in an old bank - and the location is unbeatable. Staff were also brilliant.

I can forgive street noise given the location but when renovating the place could they really not have added just a bit of soundproofing or some acoustic panels? It's like your neighbours are literally in the room with you, and you (and presumably they) can hear every sound.... not exactly conducive to a romantic, clandestine, and intimate atmosphere.

Other than that, great place.
