I stayed at this hotel on a coach trip, for a weekend. I was lucky to have a room on the first floor overlooking the River Ouse to one side and a view of a cobbled side street on the other. The important factors of hotel stays were all met. The double bed was very comfortable, the large room clean and peaceful and plenty of hanging & cupboard space. The staff were friendly and helpful. The view of the river was a double bonus as is the location. A short walk took me to all the attractions, shops, buses, restaurants, cafe bars & historic places.

I have a dread of fixed overhead showers! With long hair, it means I have to wash it, but first I have to go and buy conditioners; this shower was more like a jet wash & even the floor got a blast.

The menu looked exciting, & the one meal I had was the lamb, served with perfect al dente vegetables. The bar service was speedy and reasonably priced. I would definitely stay next time I visit York.

Well done staff and owners.

Friendly, professional, helpful staff. Rooms adequate for a central York short stay. 15 minutes walk from the train station. Next to the river across from all central tourist attractions. Generous breakfast provision. Good range of hot and cold food.

Excellent few days at this lovely hotel. Bedroom was very clean and serviced daily. The staff were lovely and friendly. We had a fab river view too. Compliments to the chefs as the evening meals were superb. Lots of good quality food with a good variety to choose from. Would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

This Hotel is fantastic for the price, its location on the river right next to the bridge opposite the waterfront bars is perfect. The rooms are spacious and clean, the beds are really comfy and the breakfast is delicious. From the bar lounge area there are two balconies with tables over looking the river. My only slight suggestion would be for the hotel to allow guests to buy soft drinks etc from the bar before it opens at 12pm. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend this hotel to friends

This hotel boasts a prime location, with easy access to the main bars and shops in the area. You really can’t beat the convenience. While the hotel was clean, it showed signs of age and wear, with marks on the walls and rust in the bathtub. Parking is pricey, and the lot is quite small and cramped, so it's wise to reserve a spot ahead of time. ||Breakfast offered a typical selection, but we were informed that fried eggs aren't available unless requested. If you're planning to dine in for the evening, be sure to make a reservation in advance. We were told the restaurant was fully booked, yet we noticed elderly couples being allowed in without prior reservations, which was quite disheartening. ||The rooms don't come with complimentary shower products, but they do feature a kettle with tea and coffee, a fan, and a hairdryer. As a three-star hotel, it serves well as a basic accommodation. Would I consider returning? Yes, but only as a convenient place to stay, as it doesn't quite meet my expectations.

They put us on the top floor and I got a skylight view of the river. Carpark is additional but our breakfast was included. Besides ordering your eggs, hot drink and bread, the other breakfast items was buffet style. The dining area unfortunately, not at where the river view was (it was the drinking area, available to guests). The staff was good and attentive.

Rooms are unkempt, neglected and run down. ||Hotel is In desperate need for decent upgrade, day to day maintenance and eye for detail is needed. || Chef has poor attitude and understanding of food intolerance and cross contamination.||||First Room 1, ||smelled! urine?||||Moved to Room 2, ||positive- didn’t smell||Negative- stained bed linen, rusty sink plug hole, rust and chips around bath. ||||Moved to Room 3, ||positive- no smell, clean bed linen, no rust in bathroom, fab view, free bottle of wine for inconvenience. ||Negative- black mould on bathroom ceiling, toilet system makes a continued loud noise after flushing and ripped wall paper around window. ||||Before arrival the hotel was made aware of my food intolerance, I have ibs and possible coeliac disease so very important to avoid certain foods I’m especially sensitive to wheat! ||||First night seemed to go well. ||Although the menus and staff say all food on the menu can be subsidised for gluten free, but that is not the case at all and For deserts I was mainly offered fruit and vanilla ice cream. ||||Second day at breakfast (buffet style ) I requested a separate plate of food because of bread/toast cross contamination which they did do, and separate gf sausage with was appreciated. ||After seeing evenings menu I asked for a plate of food to be put aside for me as it was carvery for dinner and was worried about cross contamination again. ||My request was ignored! ||I was informed all the food was gluten free except the Yorkshire pudding. ||I queue up watching other guests in front of me use the utensils transferring food onto their plate touching their non gluten free Yorkshire pudding and returning the utensils back to the food, also watching chef stab the fork repeatedly into the meat and use the same fork to stab the non gluten free Yorkshire puddings and back into the meat again.|| Then it was my turn and he said “I know I know I’ll change the fork for you! (Too late cross contamination has already happened) he then said I was lucky to be there as other hotels wouldn’t treat me this well, that hotels don’t have to cater for people like Me. Needless to say even though our room rate included breakfast and evening meal I didn’t eat this meal or any others for the rest of the stay for fear of getting ill. This was so easily avoided if a separate plate is too much to ask for||Just let people with allergies and intolerance go first.
