As a family we love coming here. Cosy atmosphere with warm fires for cold days. Staff are all amazing, so welcoming and genuinely lovely. Food is 5 stars and we will be making eating here a regular thing! Dog friendly which is always a bonus. Locals are all friendly. Nice little nook with interesting old books to read through. By far our favourite pub! Would give it 10 stars if I could ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคฉ

Arrived on a Monday 1800hrs.Was informed there was no hot food being cooked on Monday nights, and directed to a "rival" hotel and restaurant a few minutes away where we had a great meal.Upon returning the main doors were locked at 2000hrs,and the bar shut.!Use the rear entrance door. Getting back to my room I found didn't have a kettle, had to find someone to get me one. When it did arrive it was very greasy and dirty. The hotel isn't very clean, dirt and dust all the way upstairs, drawers in the room not cleaned out as dust and crumbs in every drawer. The toilet seat broken and loose, and when in the morning I decided to have a shower,it was luke warm, not hot at all,it's not had much maintenance over the years and is dated and dirty. The bed was comfortable with clean crisp white sheets. The breakfast was disappointing and very long wait for it. they deep fry the mushrooms, sausages and fried bread in old oil, don't drain the food, and it's swimming in oil on the plate. My partner had poached eggs on toast, what ended up being, under poached eggs on bread with deep fried oily mushrooms. And breakfast is only served between 0730 and 0830 ,!! And a longish wait for the helper to come and ask what you want,as she's obviously busy doing other jobs somewhere.I wouldn't say this is value for money at all. Very disappointed, and wouldn't recommend it to any one.

We were told the pub shut around 22.00 but when I returned at 20.45 I had to use side entrance which stank of cannabis. Also the corridor leading to our room . The room and shower facilities were clean. The bed was a small double and there didnโ€™t seem to be any plug sockets .The food /burger my husband had was dreadful. The bun was ripped as if someone had just pulled a piece off and the burgers tasteless plus the chips werenโ€™t cooked properly. Practically raw ! Also the hour window for breakfast between 7.00 and 8 . 00 am is a bit restricted. I had paid for 2 breakfast s but didnโ€™t bother as the burger situation had put us off . Staff seemed friendly enough but we would not stay again.

Staff was great, room was basic although comfy bed.
Downside - having to use fire door for entrance and exit, the area was full.of rubbish and smelt awful, the door was open constantly so anyone could have came in.
Didn't stay for breakfast as walking past the rubbish put us off, plus couldn't get to the restaurant area to eat as interal doors and main door locked, only managed to get in as a person was leaving through a conservatory door.
Great location for where we needed but probably wouldn't stay again
