We visited Pipe & Glass for Valentine’s this year and stayed in the Mint Garden Room, enjoying both an evening meal and breakfast — and everything was simply outstanding.

From the moment we arrived, the staff, service, food, and atmosphere were absolutely first-class. Every detail felt thoughtful and refined.

I don’t think I’ve ever had mashed potatoes quite like these — rich, buttery, and an absolute taste sensation. The lamb was another standout dish, beautifully cooked and full of flavour.

A lovely touch at breakfast was filling out a form the night before to specify what you’d like and when. There was even a space for special requests — I cheekily asked for baked beans (not on the menu), and to my delight, they appeared on my plate the next morning. A small detail, but it really added to the experience.

We returned today for Sunday lunch, and it was every bit as exceptional as we remembered. I had the lamb again — this time prepared differently, with stunning accompaniments and, once again, that incredible mash. The cauliflower cheese and duck fat roasties were also exceptional.

Dessert was another highlight: honeycomb and dark chocolate bites that were nothing short of heavenly.

We’ve already booked for Valentine’s next year and will definitely be back for more visits in 2025.

Without a doubt, our favourite place to eat — by a mile.

Thank you Pipe & Glass.

Had the most amazing time, the views were beautiful, had all these beautiful fluffy cows in the field next to the restaurant. The restaurant itself was gorgeous. The service was brilliant all the staff were so lovely and the food was superb, I would 1000% recommend the prawn cocktail and the raspberry delice!! My partner had the steak and oh my goodness it was incredible. He kept talking about the hollandaise and anchovy sauce (I think that’s what it was) and said he couldn’t wrap his head around how incredible it was and how two things you wouldn’t think go together just complemented each other so so well ! Anyway would definitely recommend booking a table it was just heavenly !

exceptionally good. All six of us really enjoyed every course. Staff get 10 stars
Very organised and efficient but also chatty and great fun. My New favourite birthday place. PS it's not that expensive for what you get,

Myself and Partner visited for the lunch menu. Nothing disappointed us. Everything from the quality and presentation of the food, surroundings, attention to detail were grand. However, what really made our experience special was the knowledge of the different components of the dishes which were explicitly conveyed to us by our waitress,Mary I think her name was.
My only gripe was the 15%service charge on top of the bill. (After all I'm from Yorkshire so that can be expected) All in all a real treat.Thank you

Really not great at all which is a shame. Went at lunchtime and sat outside. Ploughman's with only once slice of bread is a bit tight. But the real disappointment was the veal Schnitzel. Didn't look at all like a Schnitzel and was chewy and tasteless. 2 drinks and 2 lunches £80!! £9 of which was the tip which we didn't even know was on the bill until we left. We were sat outside and went to the bar ourselves for drinks! Wouldn't go back and such a shame as the location is lovely and the staff were great.

It may have been freezing cold and blowing a gale outside but our garden room was so warm and cosy. The bed was extremely comfortable with luxurious bedding and the under-floor heating in the shower room was very welcome. The decor and finishing touches are exceptional in style and quality. I was blown away at the provision of a complimentary selection of Tea Pig 'temples' which is the best tea I have ever tasted so I immediately bought some in the supermarket to enjoy at home........ the price of them (shock horror!!) confirms that only the finest quality products are part of the Pipe & Glass experience. The madeleine cakes and macaroons were delicious and a thoughtful wedding anniversary gift which was much appreciated.|The location is beautiful - even in the depths of winter and the ambience in the pub and restaurant is wonderfully chilled and relaxed whilst being extremely stylish and comfortable. The Front of House team are friendly and welcoming and play a huge part in the warm, relaxed vibe around the place.|Dining in the restaurant is a fitting Michelin star experience and the inclusion of a vegetarian menu made my visit as perfect as it could possibly be on the 2 consecutive nights of my stay. In addition, the quality of food and service was equally present at breakfast. The produce was outstanding.|Whether, just visiting the restaurant or staying over in one of the beautiful rooms - The Pipe & Glass is a clebration of quality, style and exceptional good taste.

A very pleasant evening. The food was flawless, the service was diligent, attentive and efficient. The mark of a good establishment is when they pre warm the cognac glass, which they did. It will become a regular treat for us

A Perfect Birthday Treat at The Pipe and Glass

I had the pleasure of celebrating my 68th birthday at The Pipe and Glass in South Dalton near Beverley, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in years. From the moment we arrived, the service was faultless. Every single member of staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely lovely – nothing was too much trouble, and they all went out of their way to make our visit special.

The food was absolutely outstanding. I started with the pâté, which was rich and beautifully presented, followed by the 30-day aged steak salt beef with a watercress and pickled red onion salad, smoked hollandaise, and chunky chips. Every element was cooked to perfection, full of flavour, and plated with real care. For dessert, I had the ice cream with honeycomb (proper cinder toffee!) – simple, nostalgic, and delicious.

Rowena had the fish pie, which she said was one of the best she’s ever had – packed with flavour and topped with creamy, golden mash. She enjoyed a refreshing glass of cider with her meal, followed by a couple of glasses of the house white, which was crisp and well chosen.

The setting itself is just as impressive. We were lucky enough to sit outside in the beautiful garden at the back – a peaceful, well-kept space that made the whole experience feel even more special. It was the perfect spot for a relaxed birthday lunch in the sunshine.

This was Rowena’s birthday treat to me, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The Pipe and Glass is a real gem – a wonderful combination of outstanding food, excellent service, and a stunning location. We’ll definitely be back.
