We have stayed at Gamston Lock twice now to attend Download Festival for the weekend (2023 & 2025) and both years we have had a great stay. The team have been friendly on check in and check out, giving us all the information we needed, and the rooms have been clean, well-equipped, and secure. The area is quiet and we could never hear any other guests or noise from the restaurant, parking is free and there are plenty of spaces, and the cleaning team were always friendly and happy to provide any extra paper/towels as needed. We would (and have) recommend Gamston Lock to others looking to attend Download Festival in future.

It’s a good convenient, easy to use place to stay the night. Simple the check in at the restaurant. The rooms are basic but clean and have everything you need. Could be small for a family but great for solo travellers or couples. The restaurant / pub is busy but not attached to the building so don’t get any noise. Breakfast is relaxed and easy and the restaurant staff are really friendly. Go to hotel when stopping with folks nearby.

We stay here while attending an event at Holme Pierrepont, and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and quiet throughout the night, ensuring a restful stay. We also dined in the pub, where the service was friendly, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Overall, it was a great stay, and we would definitely return for future visits.

Staff were fantastic and can't fault their service , four stars because guests must walk through the pub to check in .. rooms are quiet, comfortable , air conditioned and very clean .. it was the closest hotel to where I needed to go and well located . Good food and the pub atmosphere very warm and welcoming

Checked in. Told no need to book for dinner. Turned up for dinner and told no tables available. Restaurant was a bomb site. Dirty glasses, cutlery, plates everywhere. Insufficient staff to cope with demand. An hour wait for food sitting outside on picnic bench. Don't come here when Outlaw events are on.

Mother’s Day spoiled by our family experience yesterday. 2 hours wait for cold food to arrive. 1 hour wait for drinks. Over booked and understaffed.manager rude and just said busy but hid in the back. Supervisor blamed marstons for not allowing more staff. Was going to book for Christmas yesterday but after this experience we will not return.

Stayed in the hotel which was modern and comfortable. Had dinner at the restaurant - excellent variety of menu choices and pretty good food. Service was exceptional! Location was very convenient - bus stops very close with frequent buses into town. Would recommend for a short stay in Nottingham.
