My daughter ( in her twenties) and I enjoyed a two night stay and we found The Dragonfly a very clean hotel with very friendly staff. Our twin room was lovely and looked into a little garden area where poppies were growing ( but sadly this pretty little view was ruined by some litter) We also found the WiFi here not very good and where we don't drive the bus service to the nearby Sainsbury's wasn't very good - we thought there would be a better bus service where the Sainsbury's is a Superstore but we discovered for £1 more, a taxi service from Bury St Edmunds Bus Station would drop us at the hotel reception. The Sainsbury's itself is brilliant and less than a 10 minute walk away. So apart from a little litter and the poor WiFi - we did enjoy our stay. Clean, Comfy and great staff ☺️

Booked this place really last minute due to having to visit a loved one in hospital. While basic, the room that we were given in the new wing was impeccably clean and fresh. Staff are great too. The only thing that ruined the stay was some unit of a guest with a resting heart rate well into the three figures, in the corridor bashing on her room door at 7am in her attempt to wake up her partner in the room, instead of waddling to reception quietly to get a spare key

I must confess that, having read the very mixed reviews of the Dragonfly, I was more than a little anxious about my three-day stay.|However, my room was extremely well appointed, including an ironing board with iron, desk fan and a hairdryer. The bathroom was also very well appointed with an excellent shower. The only omission was a desk lamp, which was speedily supplied.|The breakfast has also come in for criticism, but I thought there was a very good choice of cereals, juice, fruit, yoghurt. croissants etc., while the hot choices were freshly cooked and regularly replenished. Scrambled and fried eggs, sausages, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans and hash browns. Nice freshly ground coffee from a hi-tech Nescafé machine with plenty of choice.|The staff, without exception, were friendly and helpful, if a bit thin on the ground. The reception staff double up as bar staff, cleaners, baristas and who knows what else. Maybe it's just how hotels operate these days?|A huge black mark though for staff who are propping open fire doors with rubber wedges and also some fire doors not closing because of uneven floors. That is a real concern and needs urgent attention.|Another criticism is this increasing trend to service rooms 'only on request'. |Which I did - and they didn't. I just hate having an overflowing bin and a less than sparklingly clean toilet. Housekeeping did leave me a little note apologising for 'being unable to provide a daily room cleaning service', which rather contradicts the statement on the printed cards in every room.|Do hotels following this policy tell you in advance? Not on your Nellie!|Rubbish WiFi, by the way. Slow and sometimes non existent, certainly in room 115.|I did wonder if there are staffing problems. I noticed that a lone woman was doing absolutely everything at breakfast which meant there was nobody actually checking if you had paid!|Outside my room was a large expanse of grass. To my mind, Dragonfly could spend money on making it a really nice space in which to relax. |A final point. The bin in the smoking area remained full and overflowing for the entirety of my stay. To me, that - and the lax attention to fire safety - is just a reflection on the quality of the management.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Dragon Fly Hotel in Bury St Edmund’s, and I cannot praise Chloe's hospitality enough. From the moment I arrived, her warm and welcoming demeanor made me feel right at home.

Chloe went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. She was incredibly attentive, always checking in to see if I needed anything and offering helpful recommendations for local attractions and dining options. Her knowledge of the hotel and the area was impressive, making her a fantastic resource for guests.

What truly stood out was Chloe's genuine passion for her work and her dedication to customer satisfaction. She took the time to engage in friendly conversation, making me feel valued as a guest rather than just another room number. Her attention to detail was evident in everything she did, from the cleanliness of the hotel to the personalized service she provided.

I left the Dragon Fly Hotel with wonderful memories and a strong desire to return, largely thanks to Chloe's exceptional hospitality. If you are looking for a place to stay in Bury St Edmund’s, I highly recommend the Dragon Fly Hotel and encourage you to seek out Chloe for an unforgettable experience. Thank you, Chloe, for making my stay truly special!

A lovely place to stay. Rooms very comfortable. Staff kind and helpful food excellent. Everywhere very clean. |One slight problem the room did not have enough lights difficult to read. |Closeness to A14 not a problem no noise.|We stayed over weekend it was very quiet. We were only people in for evening meal. Apparently normal at this time of year. Week days are busy due to hotel being popular to working people.

The room was small and could certainly do with some extra storage space. Breakfast - get in early or do without! The staff did what they could but having to explain that breakfast items haven’t been delivered yet does not show the hotel in an organised light....at all. |Staff - genuinely helpful and friendly - Chloe and Luke especially went the extra mile to help with a family gathering - now they show the hotel in a good light!

2nd time stay here in the last 3 years . £255 with breakfast for 3 nights . Very clean throughout , staff friendly , parking is free when u check in . The rooms were clean and today although a little dated , bed very comfy , only issue we had was that there is no draws at all to put clothes in so u do live out the bag . Having a bath was real nice as at home we just got a shower . The breakfast was really nice , not the biggest selection but had the main , bacon , sausage, hash brown , beans egg mushroom etc very tasty and hot , alcoholic drinks and main meals are expensive here . If u do stay here and are looking for a fantastic deal for food and drink , look up the Wetherspoon (the corn exchange ) in the town center , £3 + for a pint , and they do all their meals incl drinks , very cheap . Overall stay was good , maybe a little overpriced but that’s bury st Edmund’s
