My stay at Gilderdale B&B exceeded my expectations. The room was clean, cosy & comfortable, with everything I needed (and more!). Jane was the perfect host, from start to finish; she replied promptly to queries ahead of my trip and, on arrival, made sure I was settled. I can highly recommend.

I stayed two nights at Gilderdale and would happily go back. It was reasonably priced, basic but clean and lovely. Breakfast was basic but perfectly adequate and there was everything we needed including wifi.
The property is situated ideally for exploring Alston and the surrounding area.
The main point of praise was the helpfulness of the owner who went out of her way to make life as easy as possible.

We were in room 2. Outstanding is the word I would use. The room is one of the best and largest that we have stayed in. Because of covid it's breakfast in your room. The detail is amazing. A small fridge has your milk, butter, jam and marmalade in, there's a great choice of cereals, museli and porridge, a bowl with 3 large packets of biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar, a toaster and all the glasses, cups, plates, bowls and utensils that you require. There's a lovely table and 2 chairs in front of the window which overlooks a lovely sports field and valley.

I booked in here very last minute, however everything was sorted and organised for me straight away. Jane was incredibly helpful. The room I stayed in was very comfortable and well stocked too.
