It's lovely that this historic building is a thriving tea room, gallery and antique shop.
We enjoyed an impromptu lunch; there was a nice selection of savoury items and lots of choice in cakes, slices and bakes.
It makes a nice change to receive a generously-sized teapot, and so I was delighted to discover the additional pot of hot water!
Very friendly and welcoming staff, lots of seating inside and out, although it does get very busy.
Thoroughly recommend a stop here.

What a little gem of place!

Ended up in the Old Reading Room team rooms at the end of a long hike along the coast. It wasn’t quite where I planned to end up (on the walk) but I am thoroughly glad I did, as it meant we were adjacent to smashing little lunch spot on sunny March Sunday. The place is a curiosity delight – and that’s before you’ve even made it the counter – not to mention rather full of other folks enjoying some fine lunchtime dining: always a good marker for a place to come to me. Luckily, despite being busy inside there’s lots of tables outside too. I opted for a smashing tuna sandwich – although the baked potatoes were pretty tempting too. My other half went for a massive cheese and onion pastie. The sandwiches were excellent with generous fillings, alongside a lovely garnish and crisps on the side. I’d love to report on the pastie, but my wife was too busy noshing down on it with obvious pleasure to give me a chance to try a bite myself!

Very reasonably priced, fast, friendly and efficient service, and a fantastic place to spend an hour or two relaxing on any day of the week. I very much look forward to my next visit when I’m in the area!

What an absolute gem of a place, fantastic service, and a massive selection of food from sandwiches, pasties, and a wonderful collection of homemade cakes. The coffee and walnut was to die for..
Loads of antiques to look at too.
Well done to the owners and bakers.
Most definitely added to our must visit again locations next time we are in Norfolkshire...

We celebrated my coming of bus pass age today with afternoon tea! As ever the service and ambiance were perfect! But the afternoon tea was way beyond perfect. We had so much to eat and each item was delicious. We highly recommend The Old Reading Room not just for afternoon tea as we also enjoy lunch here.

The gallery is extremely comforting and homely, and it is a great place to get lunch. The mixed vegetable soup is delicious, and the scones are well made too. The apple pie is a classic, and something that we always have to order. Overall, it is great and we love coming here!

A good old fashioned tea shop, combined with a treasure professional of books. Service with a smile, prompt as well. Tea comes with more hot water to top up, sandwiches with crisps and a salad garnish. Always busy, but I usually squeeze in somewhere.

Took a group of folk out for a day and we dropped in at lunchtime. Everyone enjoyed themselves and want to go back again -what more can you ask? Lots of smiling faces, great attentive service and nothing too much trouble. We shall be back in am sure....
