People are quick to criticise, remember this is not a 5 star hotel and the price is good value for what you get. If you want 5 star then dont stay here. Yes the decor requires a refresh but it was a welcome stop for us. We stopped over for 1 night as we were cycling the King Alfred Way. The manager and staff were very friendly and they allowed us to keep our bikes in our room for security.|Bar food was good and we also had a good choice for breakfast. Bed was comfy and nice clean sheets and towels.|Thank you for our stay

We stayed at the hotel as a group of 27 women for 2 nights. On arrival the Hotel staff were lovely very helpful and sorted out our rooms quickly as we were hot and tired after a very long journey . |The main hotel areas were ok but the bedrooms were tired and needed upgrading although they were comfortable enough for a 2 night stay. |Some of our group felt their rooms needed some extra cleaning but the beds and towels were clean.|Breakfast was good with a good choice and reasonable. Would recommend they provided cereal, yoghurt and fruit as an extra choice as we well as the cooked option. Orange juice would also be lovely. |The location of the hotel was beautiful next to National Trust Devil’s punch bowl fabulous views and walking country.|The hotel has great potential for a lovely stay on a fabulous location. Saying all this we’ve had a fabulous weekend.

Great welcome by Fayaz!! My room was nice & clean. TV issue sorted by Fayaz & Geoffrey/Jeffrey.|Lovely outside seating area.|Very hot night & requested a fan which was brought promptly.|Superb service by all at this quaint but lovely hotel.|Yes there are negatives but far too minimal to write about.|My only recommendation would be to reduce the beer prices as these are quite high & don't need to be this high outside of London!

The place is very tired and in dire need of a good cleaning and a lick of paint. We booked this hotel for a family wedding nearby, so only wanted a shower and bed. I knew from the price and review that it was going to be basic not anything special but even so certain area's were filthy. The bed was comfortable, sheets were clean and the shower and toilet were clean in our rooms. That's where it ended. Hand rails were disgusting, stains on the carpet and no lamps in the rooms. The furniture was old. The staff were fine. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend and certainly wouldn't stay there again, even if they paid me.

We visited this place as there was heavy traffic on our journey and we needed a light lunch en route. ||We ordered chicken club sandwiches. The bread was toasted wholewheat triple decker. The filling didn’t reach the edge of the bread by quite some way. It was unbelievably dry. Pretty lame. Then final, grim finale was when we were in the car ready to go. The waiter came out and through the window said “it would have been nice if you had paid” I was shocked. I showed him my Apple Pay receipt and he didn’t apologise. He just handed me the receipt. Bleurgh.

What could be a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Badly in need of refurbishment. |On a positive note the bedding / towels were spotlessly clean and the bed comfy. |From there it was all down hill, the corridor leading to our room smelled damp. The room itself was badly in need or a refurb. The furniture looked as is it had come from a junk shop. The bedside lights although supporting a PAT test sticker were falling apart and I would not plug them in let alone use them. The bathroom was gross. The floor needed a scrubbing brush on it especially in the corners, the basin and bath themselves were clean but the grout and silicone was awful. |The public areas were pleasant enough although there was evidence of water leaks. The public toilets were again grimy with large cobwebs. |The staff who we saw were ok although on both occasions it was the night manager. The girl who served us breakfast was pleasant and cheerful and the breakfast itself ok|All in all I cannot recommend this hotel until it has been refurnished

The hotel is located right by the Devils Punch Bowl area which is perfect. It’s a rural location without many amenities locally.
The hotel is a little tired looking but functional. My only concern is the restaurant is very over priced. The food itself is awful and in my opinion very poor. I stayed for two days and drove out to Guildford for dinner as I refused to pay the prices at the hotel for such poor quality.
