A fantastic visit. Lovely food at a reasonable price. We were a bit skeptical as it had changed hands, but our apprehensions were soon put to rest as the new owners are equally polite and helpful as the previous ones. The hourglass is still our favorite place to dine out when in the Devizes area. We highly recommend.

Looked at the menu online before we booked. A really good selection for Vegetarian and Vegan diets. It's a lovely venue on the banks of the canal. The atmosphere is relaxed. The staff are friendly. The food is delicious. We had a lovely evening and will definitely visit again. 😋

Had 2 disappointing meals here now since the last chef left.
Such a fantastic location and potentially great pub but sadly seems to be getting worse with each visit. Very long wait times and when food arrived it was undercooked.
I really hope they turn this around as it used to be a real gem.

Well presented with light decor in a canal side location. Main dining area and outdoor terrace overlook the canal and open fields . We had booked and were seated on arrival. Unfortunately 3 starters and one main were unavailable and not advised in advance by the server, only as we worked our way through the choices. Very slow service initially 'we've only got one chef on tonight' (on a Saturday?) but why not at least take a drinks order?
The food was good with influences from various cuisines, British, Indian (curry mains are quite hot), Italian and oriental. It comes well presented and in sensible portion sizes. Atmosphere was a bit lacking as only 6 tables were occupied.
Some small improvements would elevate this to a good 4.5 star or higher venue.
Give it a go, they seem to have taken notes and stepped up following other diners' critique even today whilst we were here and if it is maintained they deserve to succeed.

While visiting Devizes, my husband and I came across this little gem. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, Lou was brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was cooked to perfection, we would recommend the steak! The deserts were a dream, we will defiantly visit again.

Popped in for lunch, beautiful looking pub, great outdoor space overlooking the canal. Expectations were high…. Sadly when our food arrived we were very disappointed. Chicken burger was tiny, bland, dry & £16. Haddock & chips was tasty but greasy. All in all a very lacklustre experience food wise

Have been here it the past and the food has been great, but today was a real disappointment. Food was not great (undercooked roast potatoes and veg) and service poor (one main course came out 10mins after the others. We ordered a couple of desserts but after waiting 20 minutes and no sign of them I asked to cancel the order and for the bill. Not good at all and reading some of the other recent reviews I don’t think I’ll be going back again……

I was very disappointed with my lunch today. It’s been a really hot day so decided to have a Greek salad, what a let down. I paid £14.95 for a bowl with wilted salad leaves, 6 olives cut in half, 3 cherry tomatoes cut in half and 10 small cubes of feta, all drizzled with a balsamic glaze! Won’t be eating here again, shame, a lovely setting.
