What a beautiful place! I spent the grand total of 9 hours here while in transit from the Isle of Man to London, but it was lovely. Such a warm, welcoming place with perfect attention to detail in the rooms. Fresh milk, real coffee, a lovely variety of tea, some lovely cookies and some jelly beans, plus water and glasses by the bed.

Also dog friendly, if this is something that ticks a box for you.

The room was spotless, the bed was so comfortable and the shower was fabulous.

Breakfast was heaven - a variety of fresh fruits, berries, yogurts and freshly cooked local produce.

I shall definitely be going back for a relaxing weekend, it was so lovely! Thank you for your hospitality.

My partner and I stayed overnight at the Ashton. James is a marvelous host. The building is in a great location, peaceful and yet walking distance to the town (down the hill at least). Complimentary wine, some lovely chat with James, plus his superb homemade cake on arrival were the sort of thing that sets the Ashton apart. The breakfast was excellent and bountiful. The room was a delight, a great bed and soft bedding. James runs the best B&B I've ever visited. If I need to come to Lancaster I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Ashton.

A gem of a place. Excellent value for money. Large, comfortable, stylish rooms. Spacious bathrooms with powerful showers. Comfortable common areas with an excellent honesty bar (when the house white is an Italian Sav Blanc, you're in good hands). Great breakfast with strong coffee to help you on your way. If you're in the area, this is the place to stay.

Excellent.Host James gave my partner & I a lovely welcome of Pimms & a selection of cake on arrival!..room & all of the house was exceptional, all done to a very high standard with great attention to detail. We will definately return & cannot recommend enough. Beautiful.

The Ashton is by far the best hotel in the Lancaster area with hospitality top of it's long list of attractions. As a regular Traveller to West coast of Scotland from South East of England, stopping at The Ashton which is half way is such a treat and James has looked after us so well on every stopover for years. Classy, comfortable, great food and a warm welcome from a great host makes The Ashton the only place to stay as far as we are concerned.

A beautiful, tastefully decorated guest house. You are made so welcome and the breakfast is out of this world. No hesitation, I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting a short break in Lancaster.

Always a delight to come here. James is a tremendos host and the rooms are all utterly charming. Glorious showers and beds, this is a super spot, well worth a stop.
