AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! We were charged £100 parking fine when we didn’t even step foot inside. We are not from the area and were driving past looking for somewhere to eat, and we stopped here. Upon going up to the door, (4pm so a time when you would think a place like here would be open) we realized it was closed, so we briefly went over the road to the toilet then came back to the car and left. We had no idea we had to pay to park here as there were NO OBVIOUS SIGNS we could see whatsoever, and from reading other reviews it’s apparent that the place to enter our registration was inside, which we could of course not do as it was closed! Have tried to contact the place COUNTLESS times and still no reply!! Avoid at all costs if you don’t want to be scammed out of your money! Seems I’m not the only person this has happened to judging by other reviews!!

The hotel has an air of faded-grandeur about it. Lots of weeds in the car park are a poor first impression, buildings seem generally unkempt on the outside and in communal areas. However, the bedroom was fine and it was clean, which is my primary concern at the more budget end of the market. The bathroom was very dated, but again it was clean. Sound proofing isn’t great at all, you can hear every word in the corridor and I could hear next doors conversation and phone vibrating through the night. Breakfast wasn’t available during my stay, and it’s only a continental breakfast anyway, so probably don’t bother with it and make the short walk to Greggs in the morning instead. I think this hotel is an ideal base or transit hotel for 1 or 2 nights, and I’d probably avoid a Friday or Saturday night to reduce the chance of noise issues. The check in arrangements were a little unusual, but the lady on the end of the phone was very polite, friendly, helpful and professional. With a bit of tidying up and some investment this hotel has strong potential due to its location.

· Excellent location . Good size clean Quiet room, the lodge was separate from the main pub so felt very private and convenient. Good value for money. Friendly staff. Stayed 3 nights . Crook Visited lakes during the day and it was convenient to drive to Morecambe and Heysham in the evening . The church in Heysham and the sunset from the beech was spectacular. Crook O Lune near Caton was a lovely river walk.

The parking is not free. Went to grab some breakfast, it was very nice, and then a week later I was treated to a parking fine of £100 for parking in the car park. No one told me that reg had to be input into some device and being dyslexic makes it a bit hard to read small signs. Who expects to pay for parking when you use the restaurant own car park. Could not provide receipt as paid on cash. Called restaurant, they confirmed I was a customer and they would sort it all out. They never did and now it's being taken further as no evidence has been provided by the hotel/restaurant. Stay or eat at your peril.

This hotel is absolutely diabolical. Not only were there numerous issues with the room, ie lights not working, issues with the shower - their customer service is AWFUL! Items were left in the room due to leaving when it was dark so had no light to double check bags and trying to get them back was a joke. As per their policy they will send items if postage is paid which we said we would do. Living 100’s of miles away we couldn’t collect. Numerous calls, messages and still couldn’t be bothered to deal with the issue. Causing my 67 year old dad to have to drive up and collect them. |Worst hotel with the worst staff who can’t be bothered to do anything. Management avoidance very evident also. Avoid at all costs

Popped in today for a Sunday carvery with friends. Gotta say they did one of the best carveries I've been to in a while. One of our party was celiac so the waitress checked with the chef to see what they could and couldn't have from the carvery. We then ordered our choice of meat at the table which was brought out on a warm plate. We then went to help ourselves to the veggies. 4 types of potato, roast, boiled, dauphinoise and mashed plus around 7 different veggies, all cooked beautifully. I initially thought the meat portion was a bit small but in reality it was enough and definitely a case of quality over quantity. With a few drinks on top, it was a perfect meal. Great work the County Lodge and Brasserie. Thank you.

We stayed one night and wouldn’t stay again, the accommodation is not attached to the main building and it didn’t feel secure at all. Rooms Could be much cleaner and beds not good, We had dinner in the main building but not great and there was only 1 person working to run the kitchen, bar and reception . The property is very tired and run down and could do with a deep clean, old and tired is fine but cleanliness is a must .no wifi for the accommodation block which meant no TV either. Breakfast only basic and again only 1 member of staff on duty. We wouldn’t recommend staying

DO NOT STAY HERE! We didn't realise we'd be staying in the outback shack rather than the actual restaurant/beautiful looking main building. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed so went to the local shops instead. As we walked in, we realised we were sharing a room with a family of spiders living in the bathroom. As we went to remove these to their natural habitat, we found the window had a huge hole in it. We rang the lady on reception and she had no idea about the window. The curtains were full of dust and dirty also. Half of the lamps didn't have bulbs in them so had about 2 little lamps to light up the whole room.
The bed was like an airbed, pillows were old and flat (my pillow had two pillows shoved into it and it was rock hard) kept waking up and got almost no sleep. The walls are plasterboard and I could hear the room next to us listening to ABBA for a good few hours, the room opposite us were talking in their home language very loud and you could hear EVERYTHING. I will not be staying here again. We did ask for another room but they were fully booked. It cost £70 for this and looking back, I don't think I'd pay any more than £30/40.
