We visited this hotel last year with our daughter and her parter and returned this year. We stayed in the same rooms as before, near to one another as our daughter is disabled and we like to be near to help if needed. |Last year the air conditioning wasn’t working in our room and so when I booked this time I asked if the room had air conditioning that worked. I was assured that it did.|We arrived to a very warm room with a fan in it! |The person servicing the room apologised and said that all the guests were complaining! The maintenance person told us that the air conditioning has been out of action for 14 months! To mend it a a number of rooms needed to be empty and it seems that the hotel, didn’t want to do this. |On speaking to reception we were told that it had been mended last week and must have gone wrong again! Clearly this didn’t fit with what other members of staff had already told us. We were offered a different room, but declined it as we needed to be near our daughter.|We were told by the head receptionist that ours was the only room where the air conditioning didn’t work. I don’t believe this to be true as we did speak to other guests who had problems too. One couple said there was a notice on the wall telling them that the air conditioning didn’t work and to contact reception if it was a problem. | The hotel had absolutely no intention of trying to mend it. |The room we were in was in a fairly poor state for one of their so called ‘ splendid rooms’ .|I responded to one of their emails asking how things were and pointed out the poor state of the bathroom and was told all maintenance issues were reported by housekeeping and dealt with straight away! Clearly this wasn’t the case ! There are lots of places throughout the hotel where maintenance is poor.|The food was nice if you were prepared to wait , often up to an hour, to be served your meal. The service was very variable. Some of the staff were very pleasant and helpful and others looked like it was a great inconvenience to serve you. Often they were short staffed in the restaurant area. |We enjoyed the spa and it was easy to use. Staff rarely visit and pick up empty glasses and the floor needed mopping occasionally, but nothing that interfered with our enjoyment. We did have to tolerate a very drunk woman one afternoon and I think that staff shouldn’t allow this to happen. |The location of the hotel is wonderful and the decor is nice, but maintenance is poor. If only this hotel had good management it could be so much better.

We came here to use the health club. Nice sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and swimming pool. We did not use the gym but looks decent. The pool was busy with lots of families but everyone nice and lovely staff. You get given towels and the lockers you don’t need a padlock. There is an old English pool table (needs new queues) and the pub is lovely. Not great vegetarian options, the Sunday roast was pork or lamb (no rut roast). A great find thanks.

We've just had an amazing 2 night's at the swan hotel and spa for our 30th wedding anniversary. The room was beautiful and the food was amazing. All staff was lovely but would like to give a shout out to Josh from the bar who went above and beyond to make our anniversary special.

Stayed in March, was really looking forward to staying but our experience wasn’t the best. The room was quite dirty and dated, on check out I overheard two other people complaining of the same! The spa was lovely, both the spa and reception staff were great and super friendly! The pub on site was alright, nothing special and quite expensive. We also found the staff to be a little rude in there. Breakfast again wasn’t great but didn’t have to pay extra so can’t complain to much about the food quality too much although we were sat for about 20 mins before getting a menu or drink. It’s a good spot for a nights stay, due to its beautiful location but wouldn’t personally be returning and overall disappointed with the experience.

I recently stayed at The Swan and sadly, it didn’t live up to the four-star rating it claims. While I was upgraded to a different room, it didn’t feel like much of an upgrade at all, the room felt tired and not particularly clean.||Prior to my arrival, I had emailed the inn several times with questions, only to have my emails ignored or met with vague, unhelpful replies. It was clear they just weren’t interested in being of any assistance.||The staff’s attitude on arrival didn’t improve matters. Although my room was ready, no one offered to show me where it was and the layout of the inn is confusing, to say the least. For a four-star property, the service was distinctly lacking.||The food was overpriced and disappointing, couldn’t even finish it. The wine line was limited and overpriced plonk! The staff seemed undertrained and unbothered. Every request I made at the front desk was either dismissed or flatly refused. On my final day, I asked for help booking a taxi and was simply handed a list of numbers and told to sort it myself.||While the location is undoubtedly beautiful, the experience was not. I wouldn’t return or recommend The Swan Inn. It has potential, but sadly, it just doesn’t deliver.

We were able to book our suite at a discounted rate, had we not, we would have left straight away given the state of our room and the hotel. Normal rate £250 night
seriously. ||It is tired, poorly maintained with clearly more focus on taking money rather than reinvesting to maintain standards. ||Our issues:-|Toilet not cleaned|1 dressing gown for 2 guests (and removed the next day?!)|1 coffee satchet for 2 guests (not restocked the 2nd night)|4 hangers |Dust/cobwebs |Aircon barely functioning |Mini fridge warm|Hairs in the bath plug hole|Shower grout simply disgusting|Wallpaper peeling off ||To add to the above, the sofas in the main lounge areas were disgusting i.e. filthy, stained or broken. Even our guest commented on how shabby the whole decor looked. There was no evidence of ongoing maintenance or deep cleaning at all.||We have stayed in many hotels and have a good idea as to what good looks like, sadly, the Swan is not on that list. What use to be a fab hotel is sadly lacking in the basics. ||There is no loyalty to returning guests. We have visited this hotel to dine or stay for 40+ years. Our welcome was “have you stayed with us before”! ||We discussed our complaints with Michelle (head of housekeeping) who was very responsive but the issues go much wider than she was able to respond to.||Sadly we will not be back and would welcome a call from the management team to discuss this further.

The hotel room and facilities were great, staff very friendly, food delicious and spa sublime. Both left feeling very relaxed. Becky did both our massages and was excellent, one of the best massages we've had. Thank you!

My wife and I just had an amazing stay here, the spa was fantastic, great service, the pub was lovely and the drinks were spot on. The restaurant was again really good, great food, but it just took so long to get served. This was the only fault we could mention. Everything else was spot on. Anna, who served us all afternoon was fantastic, thank you!!
