The room was very clean, but the furniture was a little tatty. The headboard was incredibly creaky. The spa was also in need of a good spruce up, but it was a very welcoming oasis after a very hot day exploring the lakes.
The buffet style hot breakfast was very nice. The bacon and sausage was of good quality and the scrambled egg was fluffy and well seasoned. I did, however, miss a nice poached egg and a piece of black pudding. The only real negative about the breakfast was the tea, I'm not sure which brand is being used but it definitely needs rethinking.
We also visited the restaurant for our evening meal. The lamb cutlets were very nice and the seasonal veg was a good addition. Something to bear in mind is that a service charge is already added to the bill. We ended up double tipping.

The Whitewater hotel is one I can recommend. The staff are friendly and the hotel provides ample portions of good food, served by excellent Polish member of staff. The spacious accommodation is comfortable and the hotel is situated in lovely surroundings. Our room was clean, especially the bathroom which was well appointed. I noticed one mark on the carpet and the fixed furniture whilst quite satisfatory is clearly not new. Our deal through Travelzoo was very good value.

We recently stayed here as a group of 16 for 5 nights whist touring the area. |The Staff were all friendly, hard working and made our stay a pleasurable experience. We had breakfast and evening meal included, there was always a good selection. The food was all presented and cooked perfectly every time. |The rooms aren't brand new but you wouldn't expect it for the price and location, with good views of the river from the rooms. |Everyone in our group agreed that we would happily stay here again

We enjoyed our stay. Nice, spacious room with a lovely view. The food was very good. Friendly service. ||Beautiful area. Walking distance to a cute train station, which takes you to the steam boats where you can travel to Bowness or Ambleside.

The staff, hotel cleanliness and decor was first rate. The room and bed were comfortable. The food was wonderful, every course of every meal was well presented and delicious. Unfortunately we went at a very busy time and the meals did take a very long time to appear but they were well worth the wait.

We went to this hotel on a Travelzoo deal which offered exceptional value for money. But even without the deal the hotel didn’t disappoint. We upgraded to an executive room which overlooked the river. The room was very big and the bathroom adequate. There were tea/coffee and a settee and chair. The bed was very comfy . We ate both breakfast and dinner in the hotel and the food was really good - the choice at dinner was great and the food was of a very good restaurant standard. Overall an excellent stay in a very nice hotel in a great location. The spa and indoor pool were also very good. If there was one criticism it would be the overall cleanliness. I know that it’s an old hotel and must be very hard to ensure everything is spotless all the time - however things like the windows and the outdoor areas could do either a general clean. This did not distract, however, from our stay

We stayed at this lovely property adjacent to a beautiful river. The rooms were large and very comfortable. The outdoor sitout next to the river was such a great place to be in. Thr front desk individuals were extremely nice and very helpful. We ate at the bar on the lower floor, there too the food was excellent, great veg options. I would have given this a 5 star had the staff at the breakfast place been nicer and the food had little better options and settings.

This is a nice hotel, the staff are very attentive and welcoming. We had a great stay, the room was excellent a very large bathroom with shower, very important for my wife. If we have a complaint it would only be that the lounge bar did not open until late, but most times somebody would come and take your order. We would certainly use this hotel again.
