Ignore the description on the website when booking and look at the reviews.
Firstly, this is an absolutely stunning place to stay, open the back doors and you are confronted by a beautiful countryside, and if you have a dog, which we did, what a dream place for them! Nothing but open field and space to run and be free and fully enclosed for safety!
The property itself is very clean and well presented, the kitchen is fully equipped, however does not have an oven, it has a microwave/grill/oven, personally for the money I would rather an oven or to keep with the times an air fryer/grill. I would sacrifice the dishwasher for an oven.
The bathroom is nice, with a shower which is great, again very clean and tidy.
The lounge area, again very clean and tidy, nice and spacious for 2 people, the sofa is not very comfortable for sitting on for more than an hour, it advertises as a sofa bed but we didn’t use it for that purpose.
The biggest issue with this place is the stairs and the bedroom on the mezzine floor, they advertise it as a grand oak stair case up to a bedroom on a mezzine floor, the staircase is lethal, narrow, and steep and wooden, personally found them to be a struggle. The bedroom, this did ruin our stay a little bit, you can not stand up there, I’m 5ft 11 and my wife is 5ft 3 and we could not manoeuvre around comfortably, you CAN NOT get changed up there unless you are less than 2ft tall, sadly due to this it cut our holiday short, it was too uncomfortable, yes a sofa bed was available, however the cost of the stay and the fact it advertises a bedroom, this is what we paid for.

In a nutshell a beautiful and stunning place to stay, however sleeping here was a real issue for us. On that basis we would not stay again.

We had a lovely break at the Cowstall and we would recommend a short stay here to others. Let's get the very slight gripes out of the way first as I intend this to be a positive review as the owners were lovely. As per other reviews, yes there are lots of cobwebs and dust but to be honest you would expect that with a barn type conversion so it didn't bother us. Cleanliness wise, it was very acceptable with our only critique being that there was some stale crumpets still in the toaster from previous guests but again, not the end of the world. Our final observation rather than critique is that the bedroom space is exceptionally small and crampt, we were prepared for this based on other reviews but at 5'1ft, even I found it very hard to manoeuvre around, so anyone with any mobility issues or over 5'5ft would really struggle and added to this is that the stairs are extremely steep and slippery - would benefit from being carpeted. Onto the good, which far outweighed any issues. The location is fab, beautiful views, peaceful and great for our dog. The Blackboys Inn was a great pub and only a 10 min walk away. If you have a car, Uckfield town is just a 10 min drive away. The cottage had clean towels, basic household items such as dishwasher tablets and washing tablets. Access to netflix and all free view channels as well as use of a smart speaker. On the whole, this was a fab stay and we would recommend it to others.

The Cowstall is in a beautiful location very private with stunning views of the countryside. The kitchen is very well appointed with every conceivable item of crockery. It has a built in washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and separate freezer. The shower is really powerful with plenty of hot water. Very good broadband and Sky TV channels on the TV. There are automatic lights outside which come on if you return after dark. We visited with our dog. The back garden is secure which was ideal. Bed is really comfortable. Pub Blackboys Inn is within walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already rebooked for next year.

We had a lovely 2 night stay here (January) for my wife's 50th and its a great place to take dogs as our 2 Border collies loved it. You can just open the door and they have a massive area to run free.

Pros
Nice and relaxing setting.
Great for dogs.
Some nice dog friendly pubs close by.
Great wild life.
Bottle of wine on arrival.

Cons ( not many).
Cobwebs in roof space and top window.
No proper oven.

Beautiful location, very small inside, bedroom is very limited in height. No hanging space for clothes and the stairs are definitely a challenge. Kitchen is well stocked and bottle of wine left as a welcome. Downside is not enough shelving in bathroom, unfortunately the property needs a good clean, cobwebs and spiders are everywhere and under the sofa was very dirty, definitely not been covid cleaned.

Cannot recommend this place enough !
Beautiful views and totally remote and private. This is something we often struggle to find when it comes to self catering stays but here you are totally left alone in a clean, cosy and self contained barn. Also, there is a beautiful country pub less than a ten minute walk away. I think we'll be back in the summer although we enjoyed the winter retreat just as much !
