The Dunning Hotel - Perth

We have had 3 stays at this Hotel over the last 3 years, although the rooms are very basic, this was made up for by the friendly reception and excellent breakfast included at the local Golf Club. This year the room rate had gone up £15 to £90 and we were told it no longer included breakfast. This information was not communicated prior to our visit. The whole place now looking very tired, kitchen now closed on a Tuesday and Wednesday, and the website is years out of date. We heard that the owner had lost interest and was trying to sell the pub that also ran out of 2 beers during our stay.|We will not go again.

Cozy Hotel, with a warm and homely feel. Welcoming hosts. Ask for the master of the house, named Larry. Food is delicious and best haggis. Family friendly. Enjoyed our stay very much. Enjoyed the band that played. Rooms are neat and clean. Will not forget this unique hotel.

We stayed at the Dunning Hotel for one night as a stop over on our trip to the Scottish Highlands from Lancashire. We booked 2 rooms. Both rooms were lovely and clean if a little basic but for both rooms it was a total of £119 which included breakfast at the nearby golf club cafe. I feel this was a bargain.|As regards the food, 3 of us had a 2 course meal plus drinks for dinner. The food was excellent and well cooked and served. The cost including drinks was £87, very reasonable given that one of the main courses was a sirloin steak. A very enjoyable stay and would definitely stay again.

We stayed here at the start of March '24 as a stop off for a longer journey north. Really glad we picked this place. Great, relaxed atmosphere, comfy rooms, big area to walk the dog and the breakfast is cracking. The fact that the staff are all friendly and genuine too is a nice wee bonus. Already booked another night.

Best hotel experience I've ever had to be honest.

We made the mistake of going out for the night for food and drinks in Perth and making our way to dunning afterwards, wish we'd just headed straight to dunning. We could have had black pudding croquettes and spent even longer in the excellent pub downstairs.

If you're a tourist and you want to know what a proper Scottish pub is like, this is it. locals talking about each other's families, playful banter. Feels like it's the center of the community in a way you don't get so much anymore with the rise of bar culture over pub culture.

Sat with the landlord and his wife when the bar was closed and it was an absolutely perfect evening.

Very pleasant two night stay. The pub served good food at reasonable prices, the rooms were clean and staff were friendly and helpful. We would have liked a more comfortable mattress. It is an old, creaky building, with some nice original features. We found that the Wi-Fi was very weak. Breakfast was fantastic. Thank you.

They don’t care if receives good or bad

So it’s pot luck if it’s your cup of tea or not
