We had dinner as a party of 10 on a Saturday night. You can't book ahead but the restaurant was still able to accommodate us. Very, very busy with a great buzz. I think the decor is a little bit worn and good do with a refresh. Large portions and good food with an extensive menu. The staff were great with very good service.

Lovely hotel, the room on the top floor was oddly shaped, but it grew on me.
The restaurant is amazing, the food is great but the staff just go above and beyond.
Well done.
Definitely will be coming back.

Stayed here during a solo trip for hiking in the highlands in March earlier this year and it was absolutely 10/10. I had great sleeps in a very quiet room and I loved the food! Every evening I ate in the hotel and had different food every night! It was unreal - especially the seafood and the portion sizes of the desserts! The staff were friendly at breakfast and when I had any questions. I’ll certainly be back!

Stayed here for three nights over Easter weekend. Hotel is in a great location. The bar is welcoming, lively with friendly and professional staff. The room was a bit dated. Bathroom small and not serviced for the time we stayed in it. We discovered that you had to put a sign on the door to ask for it to be serviced which we've never had to do before and was not explained by reception. Breakfast was great and the staff there were also lovely and attentive. We didn't eat at the hotel as it is always super busy and it is first come first served. All that said, it is a great base for a few days stay in Aviemore.

Dined here as part of my wife's Birthday celebrations. Portion size good and the food tasty. Service was outstanding. My wife had a birthday badge on and without requesting, the staff came out singing happy birthday with a cake. Really lovely touch which we were all taken back with. Thank you to all the team for helping make a memorable evening.

The restaurant/food was really good.
The room was too small = could hardly swing a cat!!!
At the dead of night when the locals were walking home from the pub, their conversations could easily be heard (we like to sleep with the window open) ... not necessarily the hotel's fault however speaks to the sub-par location.

Just been for my annual fishing trip on the spey and as allways stayed in the cairngorm hotel, staff as usuall can't be faulted especially the front of house and the breakfast ladies, were great crack, however when it comes to the resturant prices and portion sizes i feel that the new owners have totally got it wrong, where else would you you pay £ 17.99 for a burger and the if you add cheese and bacon that amounts to £ 25 quid?so prices generally in the resturant have gone up and the portion sizes have been drastically reduced, this would probably be suitable with the once in a lifetime tourist's but how can this be justified for regular locals, please reconsider your portion and price increases right across the board and last but not least what have they done by removing the best black pudding in the world and replaced it with a poor substitute.spud the pipers pipes are silent most nights and all of this is not the cairngorm that the great staff have worked for and built up over the years.

This hotel takes "charming" to a whole other level, aided by an excellent, friendly, competent staff. Yes, the stairway squeaks, but even that is just part of the chairm. There is a lot of character here. Food prices are reasonable, especially with the "senior special" menu for early dinner. Breakfasts, included with our stay, were excellent--absolutely excellent. The location is wonderful, just across the street from the Aviemore train station and the stop for the bus to Cairn Gorm. If you want a hotel with more comprehensive facilities, then sure, you may prefer the massive resort complex that has taken shape just behind this hotel. For us, though, we would absolutely choose Cairngorm Hotel for another stay in Aviemore. The only negatives for us were that the hotel did not offer to store luggage before or after check-in (they said so when I asked--try the luggage storage place just a few blocks down the main street), and the main street of Aviemore, like in some other British tourist towns--is pretty busy, so crossing it is not a casual matter. But, indeed, I would not hesitate to stay here again.
