This is a very attractive hotel with lovely gardens. As others have said a little tired in places, mainly corridors. This did not detract from the charm. We stayed in a four poster room unfortunately there was a strange smell, something spilt on the carpet. As it was only one night we put up with it but did tell reception on leaving so they could sort it. The food was absolutely lovely and staff friendly. Breakfast choice good. We would return no hesitation.

What a lovely hotel. Warm in heating and in spirit. Great vibe from this hospitable building. Jam packed on a Tuesday night with travellers from couples in cars to German motorcyclists and American coach trips - everyone served very well. The hotel caters for its clientele very well with a welcoming team and excellent kitchen. Very good value. Yes this place urgently needs new carpets, painting and a handyman to fix stuff - all superficial and easy enough. But please don't lose the olde worldy atmosphere of the place. It's lovely as it is. And we speak as people who have stayed in many Highland hotels - especially those that think they are better than they are. The team here is delivering what its customers want very well. Keep up the good work.

Spent a lovely evening here with my husband and dog, on the start of our road trip round north of Scotland. The room was superior double with garden view, it was huge, clean, comfortable and highly recommended. There is a small lift. Food was outstanding for a large hotel, very reasonably priced. All the staff were very attentive, could not fault a thing. Yes a little dated hotel, but has some amazing features. Very comfortable night was had, wish we could of stayed longer.

Paid ยฃ145 per night B&B for this run down once grand hotel. In great need of updating. Dark sad run down corridors, carpets worn out on stairs, paint peeling from windows. Photoโ€™s of grounds deceptive. Free parking but difficult to drive out in the morning as coaches park blocking in your car. ||Full of tour parties. 1950โ€™s music playing in lounge, bar and restaurant. Think they only have one playlist. Breakfast lacking, they are clearly trying to save money here therefore didnโ€™t try the evening meal. ||Upsides. Staff very nice. Room ok (but bed very small bed) nice view.

It's very sad because this grand looking hotel is actually in need of some serious work. I'd requested a downstairs room as I wasn't sure if they had a lift and I'm currently struggling with stairs - they do have one, which was very near our room. To get there we had to walk down some very shabby and run down corridors. The carpets were badly stained , there was a door off its hinges, exposing a cupboard containing a ladder, and it looked dark and dingy. I was dreading the room, but it turned out to be pleasant, large and comfortable, with a large wetroom bathroom fitted with rails and a shower seat. I would observe however that an average wheelchair would not get through the door in to it. ||Staff were very friendly and helpful on reception, and even suggested we could get in via a back door to unload to save walking the corridors, which we did. The internet was good and fast, and there was a good range of TV channels. One quirk which we were warned about was that the kettle and portable heaters couldn't be used together or they cut out! I didn't think this would be a problem as we didn't think we'd need the heater, but we did use it in the morning (with no problems). The bed was comfortable and the room quiet. It has plenty of parking on the front and round the back.||I'd booked the dinner, B&B package so the menu was set options and limited. Until I queried something on it they didn't automatically offer the main menu, which gave more choice. You then have an allowance against it and pay any excess. This proved to be much better, and perhaps people should be given this choice from the start. Staff were all very friendly and I have to particularly mention Stuart who was a trooper. He was serving, cleaning, topping up, all with a service, smile and chat. He's a real asset to the team and I said so when we checked out. Breakfast was good.||If the outside and common areas could be upgraded this would be really an excellent place to stay as it has a lot going for it and is in a good location, but as it is I did think it was a little overpriced.

My husband and I went, with our two dogs. The hotel staff, made us feel very welcome. The meals where delicious. I did not think the meals, where expensive and the standard of food and choice, where of a high standard. We would highly recommend, this hotel.

This place looks awesome from the outside, but inside could do with some TLC, a lick of paint, and some new carpets. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. There was plenty of parking and a buffet breakfast. All set in a peaceful location.

This is an old style hotel, in need of some care. We had a room in the centre at the front that was large-ish, but had a small bed (double) and a shower that was tiny. The view across the garden (over the parked cars and road) was lovely. All said, though, if the location suits, itโ€™s a quiet location with friendly staff.
